The Beauty of A Long Rest

Star-divide

On November 29th, the five game winning streak assembled by the Devils ended abruptly in Pittsburgh.  After resting for four full days, they headed into hostile territory in Philadelphia to resume their season.  The result was a clutch 3-2 win over the Flyers with help from Flyer-killer Patrik Elias.

Last night, after the three full days of rest that followed another clutch victory in the even more hostile grounds of Montreal, the Devs spanked around the Penguins 4-1, making it eight wins in their last nine games.

It comes to show that despite any long rest periods, the Devils can always be counted on for a victory, as they are now 4-1 after coming off of three or more days of rest.

So much for feeling rusty while waiting a long time for the next game to arrive.

Good point, but....

Not to burst your bubble, and it is a good point, the next time the Devils get 3 full days off from hockey is before the All Star game: January 22-26.

So if recent history holds up, Ottawa is going to get OWNED on January 27.

January 22-26 would be FIVE days of rest, which does sound a bit risky at first. I don’t think it will be a problem.

And as for Ottawa, it should be the case. They’ve been inconsistent so far this season with their longest win streaks at only 2 games.

Ah, you’re right. I should have said at least 3 full days. Anyway, my point is the Devils won’t have these long breaks for a good stretch. And I would think the Senators aren’t pushovers, especially since that game is in Ottawa.
