Shocker! Sean Avery Suspended for Doing Something Stupid
Sean Avery is the world's biggest douchebag. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he really is.
But we already knew that, didn't we? Still, the NHL confirmed it today with an indefinite suspension and a pending meeting between Avery and the NHL commish. Avery was suspended for making the comment that Dion Phaneuf was part of a growing trend in the NHL and that's dating Avery's "sloppy seconds". Yes, he said this in reference to his former girlfriend, 24 star Elisha Cuthbert. You know, this woman right here:

Regardless, Avery is a grade A moron. I think the better punishment would've been to have let Avery play tonight against Phaneuf and the Flames in Calgary. I know, I know, Bettman wants to avoid a circus, but don't you think that Phaneuf would've doled out some street justice. You don't call another man's girlfriend sloppy seconds. Never ever. And hockey is all about justice. This is a saga that is just beginning.
Maybe if Avery is in the building, Phaneuf will go old school on his ass. And by old school, I mean this:

I don’t think it’s just being suspended for this comment, it’s really just a sloppy cherry on top of a large pile of misstep ice cream that Avery has doled out from the stupid freezer that is personality.

whoa whoa whoa metaphorical chaos!
The NHL obviously knows who he is, what nonsense he is capable of and just how far he can take it. Perhaps in an effort to at least make an example of someone who is looking to diminish the integrity of the game, they chose to let Avery know it won’t be tolerated. Hey, we all know that stuff exists ON the ice, but i guess it’s Bettman’s job to keep it out of off-ice commentary.

Not to mention that it's incitement
The NHL really doesn’t want to get massive media attention for when someone (Dion?) would pound the living hell out of Avery for something he said pregame.

I’m convinced a few others would’ve jump into the mix too if given the chance. If not suspended the refs probably would’ve given him a game misconduct as a matter of defense.
