Canada found their strength in the third period and pulled away big time to win the gold medal in a 5-1 victory over Sweden. Mirtle has a good summary of the overall status of the tourney. Here's all the stats from the tourney. 2009 draft prospect and the potential next Canadian star, John Tavares was named the most valuable player and best forward at the 2009 WJCs. I guess he's the de facto #1 pick right now going into the draft.

Here are the final results for all Devils.

1. Patrice Cormier: 1 goal, 2 assists, 6 penalty minutes, 10 shots, and presumably a massive amount of pain inflicted on opponents.

2. Mattias Tedenby: 1 goal, 4 assists, 4 penalty minutes, 12 shots, and hopefully will get more minutes at HV 71, the team that features Kris Beech and Teemu Laine.

3. Mike Hoeffel: 1 goal, 2 assists, 12 penalty minutes, 10 shots, and hopefully a little spark as he goes back to Minnesota to play out his season.

While the Devils prospects at the WJCs weren't among the leading scorers, they did contribute to their team's successes. And especially for Cormier and Tedenby, that's experience that can't be taken away.
