Game #20 - Devils at Nashville Predators
New Jersey Devils at Nashville Predators, Nov 19, 2009 8:00 PM EST
TV: MSG Plus (HD)
Radio: WFAN 660 AM
Previews: Scroll for Fischer, and our pal Dirk always mans On the Forecheck.
Song to Get You Pumped Up But Also Make You Think Deeply About Tonight's Game: "High Lonesome" by The Gaslight Anthem. Didn't we all kinda sorta wished we looked like Elvis?
Join me and Fischer in the comments. As always: Keep the comments clean, you keep them on-topic (tangents OK, talking about the Devils/Predators is OK, but I don't want to turn this into an "I can't believe he used another Gaslight Anthem song again" thread), and support the New Jersey Devils. It's a pretty good song, baby you know the rest.

McAmmond and Eckford are in. Halischuk out, Leblond on IR.

Leblond was hurt? That would explain why he hasn’t seen any action recent.
Well, per Chere, it’s retroactive for an upper body injury.

Good defense doesnt always have to be offensively talented to get the job done. (If you have productive offensive lines)

It’s weird to see McAmmond in Madden’s number… or anyone, that is.

You mean Alfredsson’s number… because he’s an ex-Senator. He’s probably honouring his old captain.

Nashville Scores
And a flukey one that Marty didn’t expect. Arnie makes it 1-0.
by Steve Lepore on Nov 19, 2009 8:14 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Oh, that's a terrible occurence
Arnott on a loose puck and he slips it in through the five hole. White had no chance as he didn’t even see Arnott – Marty was caught surprised.
This isn’t new to the Devils, but what is new is that this is the first game after a loss in a long time. How the Devils respond is crucial.

Langenbrunner a ripper and a great save Rinne. Marty sends a home run toss for Zubrus and he slaps one that Rinne responds to.

Parise was found WIDE OPEN on the long pass, wound up, but Rinne takes it right off the mask! Great pass by Elias!

Second period starts
Chico says the Colin White shot was deflected by a Pred, so it’ll be White’s goal. And he also corrects himself on the Arnott goal – Arnott did beat White (my bad too, since I commented like Chico did)

Clarkson was about to fight Tootoo, but he begged off. Clarkson drops his stick/glove. So that’s a penalty.

Nashville just had two great chances that Marty saw all the way through. Devils would be wise to respond.
P.S. Peters didn’t take a penalty, but was close. Tootoo ain’t fighting and the Devils forwards should just accept it. Let him take stupid calls instead.

Nashville’s Bouillon was wide open, looked for the open man, and Mottau denied the pass.
The Preds are starting to spark, Devils’ D needs to be careful.
Of course, as I type this, Andy Greene gets forward and makes a nifty backhand move. Rinne did well to stop it.

So in the last two and a half minutes in this OT, Patrik Elias levels a Pred to stop a shot from taking place, Joel Ward nearly gets fortunate after an excellent forechecking effort, and Pekka Rinne nearly gifted a clearance back to NJ.
