Game #24 - Devils vs. New York Islanders
New York Islanders at New Jersey Devils, Nov 28, 2009 1:00 PM EST
UPDATE: David Clarkson is out 4-6 weeks with a fractured right ankle. Vladimir Zharkov (20 points in 22 games at Lowell - AHL) and Ilkka Pikkarainen have been called up to the big club.
TV: MSG (HD) for our guys, MSG Plus (HD) for the Islanders broadcast.
Radio: WFAN 660 AM for us... do the Isles still put their games on the radio?
Previews: For Fischer's, scroll below here. The gents at Lighthouse Hockey and our buddy Dominik are the masters of Icelander wit and wisdom.
Springsteen Saturdays: While typically, our game threads will feature a song to pump you up and make you think about the game tonight, Saturdays we will devote to our beloved Boss. Because we're all Devils fans here, how can we be more Jersey?
With all these ridiculous injuries, don't you kind of wish we were in the future with all these guys back? The chorus of "Livin' in the Future" off 2007's Magic has a chorus that resonates right now.
Don't worry Darlin', now baby don't you fret
We're livin' in the future and none of this has happened yet
Let's hope so, and go for another win.
Me and Fischer are at the Rock, so talk about today's game amongst yourself. As always: Keep the comments clean, you keep them on-topic (tangents OK, talking about the Devils/New York Islanders is OK, but I don't want to turn this into a Springsteen Lovefest), and support the New Jersey Devils. We're all lost cowboys at sundown.

Defenseman Tyler Eckford was assigned to Lowell because the Devils expect to get Johnny Oduya and Rob Niedermayer back next week.
“We feel moret han likely Johnny Oduya and Robbie Niedermayer will be practicing Monday if everything goes as planned,” Lamoriello said.
Oduya, Paul Martin, Niedermayer and Jay Pandolfo all skated at the Prudential Center Saturday morning. Martin has a half-cast on his fractured left forearm but is not yet healed.
So there is no Eckford for today. I imagine either one of Pikkarainen (more suitable for a fourth line) or Zharkov (see what he can do with a little offense) will slot in at RW.

Of course, I screwed up the quoting. Everything between “Also from Chere” and “So there is…” is from the article. My bad.

clarkson's injury
from what i could gather from reading ‘fire and ice’ and the way they described the injury it sounds as if it is not the ankle which is fractured but the bone above it, the fibula, which actually isn’t a weight bearing bone and if it is in fact a non-displaced fracture, it would not require any surgery and while he will not be able to play for the 4-6 weeks that they said, he should make an uneventful recovery so in it’s own way, maybe things are looking up from what we were afraid of early yesterday afternoon

Old School Beatdown
This was an old school beat down in the third period. An awesome game to attend. The offense actually looked like it was yet again sputtering to start but they just exploded in the third period.
