I feel the period was even despite the score. The Devils just had too many shots miss the net or have it blocked by the Isles defense. I expected less from the Isles defense, honestly but they showed up well.
On the goal against, well, that was just a whole bunch of breaks culminating in a goal against, really. The Devils can come back from this, but they need to start putting their shots on net instead of at the glass or at the shins/sticks of an Islander.

Second Period
The Islanders’ lesson this period is to stop giving up the point to the Devils as it has burnt them twice. Great shots by Murphy and Rolston. I’m glad the PP got one because the other three they got was, well, not good power plays. The Devils would do well to get a third one and with the way they are playing, they’ll likely get it.
The one thing that does worry me is the Islanders’ tenaciousness – they love to forecheck, they love to engage, and if the Devils aren’t careful on the point or in their own zone, it could burn them. The last thing the Devils want to do here is to start giving up chances and, of course, goals against.

I should always ignore the Devils during the last half of the first period, all of the second period and the first five minutes of the first if I turn the game back on to find them in the lead.
A injury and its not a Devil. Is that possible

I can’t even begin to describe the kind of respect and admiration I have for Colin White for not only overcoming one of the most devastating injuries a person, let alone a hockey player, could ever face, but for making the decision to continue to play a sport as a aggressive as hockey in spite of the irreversible damage said injury caused. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that he’s legally blind in his right eye, but he really made a commitment to continuing his career even though that meant having to basically relearn how to play the game without full vision and changing certain aspects of the way he played the game to suit his condition. He’s come so far from where he was at when he first returned from his injury during the ‘06-’07 season to where he’s at now. He’s as good a defensive defenseman as he was before his injury, but his temper has become much more even-keeled (most likely from not being able to fight anymore).

I feel pretty good about him in the net.
