"Oduya has been better," Lemaire said on Monday. "But he can do more as far as his skating with the puck and breakout passing."

Lemaire did not blame rust for hampering Oduya’s play. He has had time to re-acclimate himself. "It’s got to be him pushing a little harder," the coach said.

Jacques Lemaire talks up Johnny Oduya, as reported by Andy McCullough for the Star Ledger.

Given some of the comments here, I figured with the return of Oduya and this story, it was time for a new featured poll. Does Oduya improve his play by the end of next month? Vote on the right side bar (on the main page), or leave a comment here about it.

With Greene playing so well I would be happy if Oduya just played solid defensively and not take a bunch of penalties. I think if he just plays smart he will be fine.

Fair enough, but do you think he’ll turn his season around and play smart soon?

I think he will improve. He is already playing better than he was before the injury.

I think he will turn it around.

Johnny should be fine once he gets some more games under his belt. He just doesnt seem to be skating as well as he did last year causing him to take more penalties and be caught on the ice for more goals. He also is not shooting the puck as often as he did last year. I would like to see some of those end to end rushes he is capable of doing.. I would be shocked if he is healthy if he did not improve. When he is playing well he is a plus hockey player not a minus..
