Game #25 - Devils vs. Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks at New Jersey Devils, Dec 2, 2009 7:00 PM EST

Really, we're playing the Canucks?  Well, I guess I can see how that could be fun.  Anyway, tonight starts an interesting experiment, in that Fischer is going to be attempting to comment live from his phone at The Rock tonight.  Should be cool.

TV: MSG Plus (HD)

Radio: WFAN 660 AM

Previews: Fischer's is below, and Nucks Misconduct is one of the best Canuck blogs there is for a Vancouver preview.

Song to Get You Pumped Up But Also Make You Think Deeply About Tonight's Game: Vancouver native, Canuck fan and How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders brings us Robin Sparkles' "Let's Go to the Mall".

Join us in the comments. As always:  Keep the comments clean, you keep them on-topic (tangents OK, talking about the Devils/Vancouver Canucks is OK, but I don't want to turn this into a "You're getting really lazy with these" thread), and support the New Jersey Devils

Kind of fun?! It should be – tonight is the only night these two teams will play each other! Well, unless Vancouver can miracle their way to the SCF.

At the arena now, saw a whopping 6 Vancouver fans. Of course it’s real early, not even close to gametime. I wonder how many will be at The Rock in total?

One aside

Nucks Misconduct is reppin Pantera in their preview. Had I known that, this would have had some Exhorder repped.

(Let’s see who gets this…)

Greene drove to the net through the middle of the ice, it got dropped off to Bergfors who cut to the middle of the slot, and ripped it 5-hole past Luongo.

Excellent reaction play by Bergfors. The goal certainly gives the Devils a lifeline. But will the passing and decision making improve on offense? It’s hurting NJ all period long. Among other problems

That certainly was nuts. Zajac picks the top left corner and rockets one past Bobby Lou. 3-2 after 20.

Like the game against the islanders, the devils came out like they were drugged and slowly gained some kind of momentum. The Canucks knocked us down and started repeatedly kicking us, but we managed to get ourselves back up and throw some punches ourselves.

Lets keep the momentum going into the second

Poor Andy Greene. If I were a Devil, I would never want to perform well because at the end of the period/game I’d be forced into an interview by Stan Fischler. It’s like, ‘Congrats, Andy Greene, for helping the Devils get out of the three-goal-hole they dug for themselves less than ten minutes into the first period. We shall now reward you with an awkward conversation with Stan Fischler.’

The game has been very even, both teams being denied shooting chances. Devils would do well to try less long passes.

With less than 3 minutes, I am left here wondering where it all went wrong. Oh, right, poor defending, poor passing, and two awful line changes. Fair play to Vancouver, they were good save for a few miscues and bad luck.
