Johnny Oduya named to the Swedish Olympic Roster
Editor's Comment: I'm a little surprised, honestly. He's been OK after his injury, but I don't think he's been as good as he was last season yet. Maybe Team Sweden thinks he will by February?
All the same, congratulations to Johnny Oduya for making the Swedish Olympic roster!

It’s possible they went with him based on what they know he’s capable of, and that whatever slump he’s in can be broken out of. I think it’s a great choice for Sweden, there weren’t any “locks” after Lidstrom to make the Swedish D, and Johnny’s puck handling and passing skills will make a nice compliment to a more stay-at-home player like Ohlund or another offensive minded defenseman like Enstrom. It’s too bad Bergfors wasn’t named to the eligible list in time, I think he could have easily had Modin’s spot.

I think this is great news for Oduya. He’s had one of his worst season in years (Obviously the injury majorly contributes to this) and needs something to boost his confidence up. This can definitely do it for him. As long as he doesn’t reinjure himself, its a win-win situation for both the Devils and team Sweden. Hopefully he’ll regain the form that we know he’s capable of during this stint.
