"That came out of left field to me me," Sutter said of a story in New York newspaper that he is thinking about walking away after this season. "My response is the same as I said last time. No response. I don't know where that came from, to be quite honest."

marc everson
no surprise that this article was in the ny post, starting with lead hockey writer larry brooks, it is an unabashed cheerleader and public relations arm of the rangers, my only comment is to wonder whether glen sather or larry brooks suggested that he write this story—marc everson is the most negative writer covering the devils from the metropolitan area, bar none

In total agreement with the first comment and John’s sarcasm but I was surprised Everson didnt take it further… Sutter will return home for a season and then come back to the NHL to coach the Rangers!
Everson also wrote another brilliant piece either a few days before the Sutter one or the week before. The topic was “will Brodeur be the starter when he comes back from injury?” It seems he writes columns just to write them with no thought given to reality.
What a joke
That paper … sheesh. It’s like Eklund’s muse. I like how they go from suggesting he’ll go home after the season because he’s homesick, to suggesting he’ll become the next GM in New Jersey — all in the same article! Essentially: “We have no idea what we’re talking about, but … made you look!”
On a similar note, I hear Lou “was evasive” about whether he’d quit this month to immediately become GM of the Islanders, so he wouldn’t have to move. Or he could stay on as Pres of the Devils for the foreseeable future. We’ll continue to update this story as soon as new info blooms out of our back end.
