Game 78 GameThread: Devils vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa Bay Lightning at New Jersey Devils, Apr 3, 2009 7:00 PM EDT
Per Damian Cristodero's Lightning Strikes and Gulitti and Chere yesterday, here are your expected starting goaltenders:
VS.
Martin Brodeur will be honored tonight before the game, Gulitti has the planned ceremony right here. My preview is, uh, at the top. Check out Raw Charge for the Lightning side of this game.
I'll be at The Rock for this one. But if you can't make, don't be afraid to make a comment. As always, you are welcome to leave any comments about the game or the teams involved or anything that is relevant to what's going on. Please keep it clean and please keep believing in New Jersey. Go Devils!

Guh. This is what happens when I decide to watch the episode of Warriors I recorded last night on the DVR instead of the first intermission and about seventeen minutes of the second period. The Devils start winning! And I have no idea what’s going on! Why is Brodeur in net? Did Kari Ramo really throw a goalie stick at someone’s head? Pando?!?! Langer’s goal was pretty sweet, though. And it was on the power play, too!
FINALLY!

game over.
The Devils WIN!!! . I missed the first period. The Devils were trailing 1-0. Marty Brodeur was in net I was told Kevin Weekes got injured. Then it was 2-0. I was thinking here we go again when all of a sudden the Shanahan line started playing really well. Then the Devils got a penalty shot and Sutter rewarded Shanahan by giving him the shot. Shanny delivered and I thought this could be the turnaround to the Devils season. Then Pandolfo scored and the devils offense was getting back in the groove. The defense still was not the Devil defense of old but they outshot Tampa by a pretty good margin. Then the Zajac line took over like the old line of 6 games ago. When we won it in overtime I yelled so loud the whole block could probably hear me. I am excited again. I hope it can carry over to Buffalo.

I hope so too! The offense really sorted itself out and really got the Devils’ through this one. Because they did so well, that’s why I think the slump may be over instead of this just being the “eye of the storm.”
Buffalo will be big! Will New Jersey slam the Sabres’ playoff hopes down in a nearby trashcan, or will the Sabres continue to chew on the 6 lb. burger that they are very likely to not finish that are their current playoff hopes?
