27 Years Ago Today: The Devils became a Reality

While the Devils name didn't come until June 30, it became official on May 27, 1982 that John McMullen's bid was approved by the NHL Board of Governors to move the Colorado Rockies to New Jersey. Incidentally, the link goes to a brief history of the erstwhile Colorado Rockies. Back in the day when Don Cherry was a coach, Chico was young, and Rock and Roll Pt. 2 was rocking the fans after goals. Thanks to Frank D for the tip.
