"Sports authority officials have had discussions with Vanderbeek in recent months about whether the state agency might take over management of the Prudential Center from AEG. But in a 60-minute presentation to The Record, Vanderbeek criticized the sports authority as "patronage heaven" for politicians and cited two letters from fans imploring him not to use agency employees.

'People [at the agency] have no fear they’ll ever lose their jobs,'Vanderbeek said, adding that his franchise’s complaints about specific employees working at Devils games frequently would fall on deaf ears."

Vanderbeek airs out his opinions about the NJSEA and Izod Center to The Record's John Brennan. This is more Devils-business related than anything else. Given how upset I was when I read that there were talks to bring the NJSEA in to run the Rock's day-to-day operations, I'm very pleased to hear this from Vanderbeek. Thanks to Gulitti for promoting this.

I'm a little concerned at the end of the article that states the Devils would "break even" without the Izod. I guess the Devils didn't make a profit? Needless to say, that would be a disappointment. Then again, it can't be so much that they couldn't lower ticket prices, which they are doing for next season.
