Petr Vrana apparently will not return to the Devils next season, as he has signed a 2 year deal with Vitkovice. Spector has a link to the original article at Sport.cz (translated via Google here).

It's a bit of an unfortunate occurrence that he makes this move now. With Holik retiring, that's at least one roster spot open that Vrana could have competed for and won in New Jersey for 2009-10. Alas, he feels otherwise. Best of luck to him in his career. Thanks to Don for the heads up.

what a shame.

wow that sucks i thought he was pretty good in the game i went to in D.C early in the season.he scored his first goal in the first period.i figured he would have a real role on the 2009/2010 team.

Interesting move by Vrana, not sure he would have had a big role next season but I think he would have likely made the team out of camp. That being said I dont think its a huge loss, he had 15-20 games and while the ice time was limited I don’t think he’s anything more than a 3rd liner.
