1965 SI Article about the Rangers: They stunk...and were also cheap
Big thanks to don in central jersey for bringing up this article. Our Hated Rivals were ran poorly in the 1950s and the 1960s. The ironic aspect is that the owners were incredibly cheap. To me this is a big shock. The Rangers didn't go out and spend big money on free agents every season then - they just raised the ticket prices. Yes, this is the same organization who has been setting the standard of paying too much for inadequate results in recent memory. In an earlier era, they were extremely cheap...and were still bad!
It's a great read and another uncomfortable point to raise to a Rangers supporter. Again, thanks don. By the way, feel free to join in the comments why you are a Devils fan.
