The purpose of these GameThreads is to provide a forum for you to comment about the game. Comments are live - so you do not need to refresh the page to see new comments and replies. Now, truth be told, I usually set these up in advance and to be opened about an hour to 90 minutes before game time. This way you can discuss any breaking news prior to the game or just get to get pumped for some hockey. Please continue commenting here during the game, which is set up for talking about that awesome hit (insert player here) threw or that sweet goal scored by (insert player here) or to declare "Balderdash!" when (insert player here) from the opposition scores.
All I ask is that you keep the comments fairly on-topic (an odd tangent here and there is OK, but focus on the game), be respectful even if some hater talks more junk than what they have in their trunk, don't post anything illicit or illegal (read: no pirate streams), and please keep all comments clean.
Any new info we get here will be added by our new writer Steve Lepore; and he'll take care of any quick post-game duties while I travel back from the Rock. Thank you for reading and enjoy the game. Go Devils!

New guys on D
Interested to see that Urbom kid play. Lemaire must see something in him to get him this playing time. Big kid at 6’4" and 215lbs. Could prolly gain about 20lbs in muscle and then really be able to throw his weight around.
Appreciate the update
I’m watching the Leafs-Bruins on NHL Network.

NJ Goal (2)
Clarkson again on the PP, from Shanahan and Zubrus at 10:14 of the 2nd.
Clarkson got a lucky rebound the 1st time, this one he just ripped it past backup goalie Chad Johnson on a great feed from Shanny.
No big hits, some scrappiness. Avery had a 4-minute goalie interference/unsportsmanlike penalty, which negated a goal.
Clarkson gonna go for the natural hat?
Avery is a hack. I’m glad his d-bag antics cost the Rag$ a goal.
clarkson
Interesting-I played it back twice to make sure, but Chico just said that Clarkson is UFA after this season because he was an undrafted free agent signee, Cap Geek has has him as a RFA after this year.
I think Clarkson is poised for a big year

He looks really good tonight. I wonder if Lou will try to lock him up long term.

after 2
So far Bergfors-Murphy-Frazier look the best of the young guys at thier respective positions
Pikkarainin looks like he is uncomfortable or unsure of himself,, and Pelley is causing me to worry more about center, as Cormier looks better.
Would like to see Zharkov get a little more time.
grades-IMHO
I’ll leave out the vets, they all looked ready for the season.
A- Murphy and Danis ( maybe an A+ for Danis)
B- Fraser (he looked good until Gilroy skated arond him)
B- Bergfors
C- Zharkov- Pelley-Cormier- Leblond
D- Pikkarainin
incomplete- Urborn
