"A large part of it is that when we were going through the selection process and the captaincy, that kept coming up," Burke said. "You know, ‘This is a guy that played in the New Jersey system. Brian Rafalski cut his teeth as a Devil. Jamie Langenbrunner has gone through that whole process, watching guys check their ego at the door and do their job. So, yes, a lot of this team selection and captaincy selection is a tribute to Lou Lamoriello, who, of course, has been a giant with USA Hockey. So, no question that’s a factor."

Brian Burke explains why USA Hockey went with two current Devils and one former Devil to be captains for the 2010 Olympic Team, as reported by Tom Gulitti. Congratulations to Jamie Langenbrunner for being named captain of the 2010 USA Olympic Team; Zach Parise for being named as an alternate captain, as well as to Brian Rafalski, Dustin Brown, and Ryan Suter. Per Gulitti's post, Burke said naming Langenbrunner was an easy, unaminous decision - well deserved praise with how Langenbrunner has carried himself as captain of the New Jersey Devils.
