Langenbrunner Milestone Coming Up
I believe that the game next Wednesday against Florida will be Jamie Langenbrunner's 500th as a Devil. I am pretty sure he has not been a scratch in any games this year. He had 452 coming in to this season.
I think there have been only 15 or so players who hit that mark with the team, so it is pretty impressive.
Wonder if it will garner any mention by the team at the game?

18 Devils have surpassed 500 games. In order prior to this season: Daneyko, Brodeur, Stevens, MacLean, Scott Niedermayer, Elias, Holik, Pandolfo, Brylin, McKay, Madden, Driver, White, Aaron Broten, Muller, Gomez, Rafalski, Albelin.

Of that list
One of the names is not like the others. I think most long time Devils fans like and respect every guy on that list (personally, I was not a bidg Randy McKay guy). The one guy though who I think left a bad taste with people is Gomez.
Holik had his redemption by coming back to end his career.

Yeah, I don’t like Gomez after he crossed the Hudson. BUT, I’m also glad he’s gone.
We would have over paid to keep him and because he’s just not as good as he used to be.
At this point though, I kind of want to thank him. He did take up some valuable cap space for the rags for 2 seasons, and caused them to focus on dumping him instead of going outright for someone else.

Thank you Captain America!
Not that I didn’t have a TON of respect for Langs already, but this just makes it even better. Anyone who stays committed like that is tops in my opinion.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication. We definitely see your effort this year (other years too) and are excited at how it is contributing to our success.

You guys still are that upset at Gomez?
Please the season’s he’s had since leaving the Devils are payback enough for spurning the team in my opinion.

Well, I’m not. Now that he’s with Montreal, I think time has passed to boo him. I don’t recall him getting booed all that much when he was with Atlanta, but perhaps my memory is incorrect?

I do still hold a grudge
I’m not an angry guy by nature, but I am definitely still sore with Gomez. He went to the Rangers. He’s a traitor. Yes, it is kind of immature. I would not hold it against a journeyman type of player, but Gomez was a pretty big star with us. He probably could have gotten good money from alot of teams, but he chose to go with our biggest rival. I wouldn’t say I actively wish him ill, but I do think it serves him right that he has not had the same success since leaving.
Therapy session over now :-)

I don't boo anymore only because it lets him think he's still relevant.
He’s not. His career has gone down the tubes, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I just can’t boo while that happy.

Gomez
I still hold a grudge against Scott Gomez as well. He was born and bred with the New Jersey Devils. He could have been a star with this team and developed chemistry that few imported players could. Many believed that Gomez’s highest potential was within the Devils’ system. But he took the money. And he wouldn’t have been nearly as hated if he went to a team instead of the New York Rangers right after the Devils. It kind of reminded me how Johnny Damon went to the Yankees after the Red Sox. I’m a Yankees fan and I think Johnny is a wonderful player, but Red Sox fans have every right to boo him.
