Devils Morning Skate and More

The Devils morning skate today was very light. Why?

1. Martin Brodeur stayed off the ice to avoid the media and most likely to save his energy for tonight's matchup against the 28th seeded overall Toronto Maple Leafs. He wanted to avoid the media because of speculation regarding him playing too many games for New Jersey and not saving his best for team Canada in Vancouver.

2. Patrick Elias still not practicing with the team after the hit he took against Colorado which kept him from finishing the game.

3. David Clarkson is still not practicing with the team due to lower body injury.

4. Paul Martin did not practice still out with the arm injury he suffered against Pittsburgh on October 24, 2009 (has missed about 43 games).

5. Lemaire wants to calm the team down and keep their best for tonight's game against the leafs. The team took some shots on Yann Danis and practiced face-offs.

Other news surrounding the Devils- Ikka Pikkarainen was sent to waivers then assigned to CSKA Moscow which will most likely end his career as a devil. Devils have won only one of their last four meetings with the Maple Leafs which may also play a factor in today's game (Devils have been outscored 15-11 in last four games against Toronto) Niclas Bergfors will sit out tonight's game due to poor performance (1 point in last 14 contests) and Rod Pelley is set to return to the ice against Toronto after missing time due to back spasms.

Game can be seen on TSN and MSG PLUS (both in HD)

Thanks for the updates? Dunno if you’d noticed, but Tibbs and John already recap these things…

Martin Brodeur stayed off the ice to avoid the media and most likely to save his energy for tonight’s matchup against the 28th seeded overall Toronto Maple Leafs. He wanted to avoid the media because of speculation regarding him playing too many games for New Jersey and not saving his best for team Canada in Vancouver.

Fixed that for you.
