This is not a Fire John Maclean post, or anything like that.
Instead, I'm just calling out to other fans and maybe experts, for someone to help enlighten me. What exactly is John Macleans system?
All I know so far is this:
It seems to be a dump and chase style, the goal here seems to be to dumping the puck tediously more then any other team in the NHL even if it's not necessary to do so.
I know the key to their breakout is to force the puck up along the boards. That seems to be working out.
It also appears the Devils like to pretend they are forechecking with one forward, but they really aren't forechecking with anyone.
Other then that, not really sure what the system is? Hopefully you guys can help me figure it out.
