Rolston Officially Put on Waivers
As of noon today, he's been placed on waivers and any team can claim him within the next 24 hours. Per Rich Chere, other teams are interested in him. He said he's willing to accept a trade, yet that can't be done now until (if) he clears waivers. That could be the next step for Lou if no team claims him. Keep up with Twitter (Rolston search) today for up to date umm updates.

Am I alone in thinking that some hockey pundit (Burnside perhaps) is going to write about how the Devils are circumventing the cap again with this Rolston business (all the while ignoring situations such as Souray and Redden and Finger, et al)?
So this is what it's like to be an Islanders fan...
Don’t give him any ideas, i.e. don’t feed the trolls.

So if Rolston is claimed off re-entry waivers, we’re on the hook for half of his salary/cap hit for the remainder of the year… What would happen in ’11-12? Would we still be responsible for half, or would it all go on the theoretical team that is in need of his services?

The Devils would be responsible for half of his contract next year as well.
To the extent the Player does require Waivers to be Loaned to a minor league affiliate, he cannot be Loaned or recalled without first clearing regular Waivers, and then cannot be Recalled to the NHL parent Club during the same League Year without also clearing a new Re-Entry Waiver procedure, pursuant to which the Player can be claimed by another NHL Club for fifty (50) percent of the contract’s remaining amounts to be paid, with the balance to be paid by and charged to the waiving NHL Club (both amounts to be counted against each Club’s Upper Limit, Actual Club Salary and Averaged Club Salary, and counted against the Players’ Share);
