Interesting quote from Zubrus after the game last night;
"Ilya Kovalchuk, who had seven more shots and his first goal as a Devil Friday night, has 30 shots in five games, 29 in the last four. Is he a short-term rental for the Devils? “I wouldn’t be shocked if he liked it enough to stay here,” center Dainius Zubrus said Friday." (From AP)
Personally, I'd love if he stayed, but only if he brought down his price. I get the feeling he truly wanted out of Atlanta and have a chance to really compete. Zubrus seems to be one of the guys he's closer to on the Devils as well (they both speak Russian), so maybe he knows better than most regarding Kovy.
We all know Kovalchuk is a supremely talented player, but is he really worth his asking price? Would you love to see a deal keeping him here for a long time?
Poll
Would you want to see Kovy remain a Devil past this season?
Yes; he's way too talented to give up. Sign him despite the cost. (21 votes)
Possibly; he would have to sign for less. Parise and Martin (among others) need to stay. (90 votes)
No; too much money tied up in one player, despite his skill level (7 votes)
