Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Mike Babcock announced that Luongo will start the Team Canada opener tomorrow evening against Norway, with Brodeur in net against Switzerland on Thursday. Looks like Devils fans got their wishes -- Brodeur will get some rest for the playoffs.

I have to admit a certain patriotic allegiance to the US, but I honestly don’t care much what happens in the Olympics outside of how it affects the Devils.

I’m kind of hoping the Canadian team doesn’t win Gold (and though a Silver or Bronze is still an amazing accomplishment, it will be viewed as a total and complete failure in Canada) and Marty uses it as motivation for the rest of the NHL season… but I worry that if that happens, the disappointment will have the opposite effect.

Luongo played o.k.

Luongo was not really tested very much in this shutout. Hopefully Marty will have a similar showing when he plays. If he does not play well and is benched after that it could affect the rest of his season..
