A List of Bars & Establishments in NJ to Watch Devils Road Games

Where can you combine this with THIS? With a little organization on your part - at the places listed below.  As co-organizer of the New Jersey Devils meetup.com group, John assigned me with the task of listing great places to gather with other NJ Devils fans (or at the least places that will have the game on).  From Mercer & Ocean County to the North is where you'll find Devils' Nation.  So this list includes those counties, although I would like to hear from Devils' fans in South Jersey and then have you guys anoint a place down there.  Some of the bars names have changed, so please check on that.  Also some do not carry Versus; so if the Devils game is televised nationally, call ahead.  If you have any updated news on a place or if you would like to add one, please post!

Editor's Note: Thanks to Steve for putting in the effort in compiling a list.  The interest is there and he's filling a void. If you can make any recommendations or would like to add any input or opinion, then by all means, make them in the comments.  Keep in mind, spamming is still not allowed - just make a recommendation, or an opinion, and leave it at that.

Of course, ILWT, SBN, or anyone else isn't necessarily endorsing these places; this is just an informative list of bars & establishments where one can go out and watch the Devils when they are on the road.

I have reviews next to the establishment when possible.  I usually used Yelp.  I cannot endorse the content in the reviews, but hopefully it will give you other peoples' opinions.  If you notice the Devils PR are holding more "game watches" for away games all over the state.  We hold ours separate and also combined with them at times.  The feelings are that it builds community for reasons I mentioned in a recent fan post.

These are just recommendations; please schedule your own meetups through the meetup group, the Devils or via your email.  Devils' PR also believes it translates into more seats sold for home games.

See you there - Steve Chernoski, Director, New Jersey: the Movie

PS - Despite the above first sentence link, I cannot verify that all of these establishments will have PBR; the above was just a mere attempt at humor.  If you don't think it is humorous, please consider what I was going to put there before I settled on that PBR scene.

Not a paid endorsement

I can personally recommend The Gaslight in S. Orange. They always have the Devils on (one of the bartenders is a big Devs fan), and the food and beer are really good. Its a microbrewery, though, so your not gonna get Bud Light sponsoring anything there.

I think I’ve also endorsed the Globe before on a previous fan post. Being from Red Bank myself, its one of the better sports bars in the area.

If Andrew Peters ever plays again it will be too soon.

I have a couple worth mentioning

Fans Pub and Grill, Jackson (Ocean County)—Started going there during the NFL season for their $1.50 menu, but more than not a Devils game will very likely be on, as the area is a Devils stronghold.

Chickie’s and Pete’s, Bordentown (Burlington County)—Despite Chickie’s being a Philadelphia institution, this particular one is located in the middle of the New York-Philly conundrum, which explains the New York decorum inside along with those adorning Philadelphia teams. Also, area has good mix of Devils and Flyers fans with few Rags fans as well. A couple of the bartenders I know there are big Devils fans as well. I recommend it.

The 2010 New York Mets: Maybe it's the Phillies' turn to have 95% of its roster on the DL

The 2009 New England Patriots: At least we got our division title back

The 2009-10 New Jersey Devils: Allergic to second periods

Next . . .

. . . a secret handshake or wave when you see a member of ILWT at these places? A pabst from a Mr. Lever would be golden as far as I’m concerned.

I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.
