Must read...

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette article. Pretty good article in favor of Brodeur. I am glad Luongo is in for the game against Germany and probably the rest of the tournament. Not only for the rest, but Martin needs to get out of this underachieving team. I might be wrong but I don’t see them winning a gold and probably not even a medal. Martin needs to stay away from that team and the mayhem the end result will be. Right now there are more concerns for him than team Canada! and that’s the Devils!

Good article.

Someone from Pittsburgh defending Marty. Who’d’a thunk?

Wow

Amazing article!!! Who would really have thought? I keep hoping that Canada gets beat down by Germany in a 8 – 0 fashion. Anyone else feel this way? Anyway I have noticed lately with a lot of the games before the Olympic break that everyone was shooting low on brodeur and a lot of goals were going in. Have I just been blind to this for years now or is this a recent weak spot? I saw in one of the articles that Babcock thinks if Lu was in net his butterfly style would have probably stopped these shots. Anyway thats all I have.

Matthew Barnaby, one of ESPN’s hockey analysts (an oxymoron, I know) pointed out the same thing while reviewing the game’s highlights… though interestingly, he neglected to point out that Miller is a butterfly goalie during the highlight of Crosby slipping a softie through Miller’s five hole for Canada’s third goal.

I think your observation may be indicative of what is colloquially called, “the van is always at the corner.” One only notices the van when it is indeed parked at the corner, not the times when it is gone. John did a recent article that takes a closer look at the most recent goals against that shows that they come from all over the place.

That said, he does seem more vulnerable in some way I can’t quite put my finger on. I don’t know if it’s just age catching up to him or what, but it sure seems like, even though he’s not always to blame entirely for the goals he allows, he’s letting through goals he used to stop.
