Poll: How Far Do You Think the Devils will Go in the 2010 Playoffs?
Editor's Note: This was originally written on March 31; but given that the playoffs are imminent (you can buy individual playoff tickets now), I figured the attached poll needs more attention prior to April 14, the beginning of the playoffs. Hence, it's front-paged now. Incidentally, given the Devils' second-half of this season, this particular post at Behind the Net is also relevant. Lastly, in case you don't know what the Stanley Cup is or never have seen it in person, you can do so at the NHL Store in NYC on Monday, April 12 from 5-7 (thanks to the NHL for telling me this).
Before last night's game, I had hope. I even had it after the Flyers game. I had it after we got crushed by the Islanders 4-2, and lost to the Rags 4-3. But after last night, I don't know. We are obviously going to be in the playoffs. But how far we are going to get, that my fellow fans, I do not know. After Marty's 104 shutout, I said to myself "wow, I think they can win the cup this year!". But as John said, the whole team wasn't there. Only Marty and a few towel boys.
Does this yank anybody else? That year after year, we have a spectatular regular season, and then crumble in the end and the playoffs are busts? We are slowly turning into San Jose East. What can they do? Lou has gone through 3 coaches in 4 years, and I don't want to lose Lemaire. But player-wise, what can we do?
I'm a pessimist and a perfectionist. I need the team to look good before the playoffs, and clearly, I am not seeing that. I honestly don't think they can go past the first round, especially if they play the Flyers. But, if they can somehow avoid the Flyers and get the Penguins in the second round, maybe we could make a nice little run at it, but it will be a stretch.
I will love this team until I die, but I would like to return to that greatness that they had winning three cups in 9 years.

See, I’m not happy about this poll because you beat me to this idea first.
Add your own thoughts on how far you think they’ll go in the playoffs and I could very well front page this.
Devils in my heart! Devils in my mind! Devils in my eyes! Devils until I die!

Showing up
While its obvious in alot of games this year that many guys dont show up on given nights if you look back to 2000 and 2003 toward the end of the year the team seemed to have these same issues only to pull together and show up collectivley when it matters most i can only hope that once the playoffs begin they are all focused and on the same page i for one am still pretty confident that the playoffs will be a long one for the Devils anyone agree disagree??
I hope you’re right. The 2002-2003 New Jersey Devils finished the season with a record of 46-20-10, with 216 GF and 166 GA and a total point score of 108.
In contrast, the current New Jersey Devils squad is 44-26-6 with 203 GF and and 184 GA and a total point score of 94 (with 6 games remaining, and a potential 12 points assuming the best).
As much as I’d love to draw comparisons between the two teams, 2002-2003 team was as stifling a defensive team as any we have ever had. In contrast, I believe this year’s team is one of the most offensively talented, although STILL the 2002-2003 team has scored 14 more goals currently. Granted there are still six games left but I’m hoping we draw more comparisons to the 2002-2003 team when all is said and done then, say, last years’ team.

i think one round
but i thought the same in 2000 because of the first round exits the years before.

But...
They got Larry Robinson with 3 games left…maybe that could happen.
Haven't been able to watch the Devils on TV since 2008
Worried about first round
Listen. the way we are heading we could be finishing third and if we do Philly is in sixth. Now even if we did beat philly they will take a lot and I mean A LOT out of the team. I wouldn’t mind Ottawa with fourth. Still I want to win the cup so I am all positive. Bring on whoever is willing to come to the rock!!!
Philly is in 6th now
But looking at their schedule, I doubt they’ll even make the playoffs. Canadiens (2nd night of a back-to-back), Detroit, Toronto, and Home-and-home with the Rangers. Very likely going 2-3 the rest of the way. And while they may be in 6th, only because of tiebreakers. Both those teams they’re tied with get only 1 point more than the Flyers and they’re in 8th. Atlanta 2 points down, Rangers 4, but if the Rangers sweep the home-and-home and get one point in their game in hand, the Flyers are on the outside.
Go Jets
Go Devils
Hoping the Bruins don’t play you guys, I fear New Jersey the most.

That's nice to hear
I think we want to play you guys the most but you never know.
You’d rather face the Caps than us too?
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
eastern conference finals.
I think we will make it to the conference finals and then we will lose to washington. They are just too strong offensively and I cannot see Brodeur stopping them the way he has played this year.
