No more screwing around, this is it. This will really show what this team is made of. After Lou’s tirade I expect every player to play this could be their last game in a Devils uniform, and for some; it might be. If they play like that then maybe they can win send this series back to Philly.

It's strange...any other coach I would be worried
with the fact that he was so calm with his team on the brink of elimination. But Jacques is just too cool. Was he born this way? as they say, gms can fire coaches…they can’t fire all the players.
my point was despite Lou’s tirade, and his itchy trigger finger, these Devils haven’t really responded at all…and when the Devils do that, we’ve typically had a new coach come along.
Every shot the Boucher stops is always in the same location.
He has never dive to stop a shot.

Many of the same problems so far...
Little or no opportunities down low. Not much pressure or challenging shots on Boucher. Powerplay lives and dies on point blasts. This has to stop!
On a lighter note, as an optimistic fan I want to take away something positive from this period. We played evenly overall IMO. I think there were some positive moments of pressure generated from legitimate cycling along the boards. The fan support is strong and not faltering. That punk Carcillo is being called to the box and his phony acting hasn’t affected us so far. The last penalty kill was excellent with an effort to score.
Lets go BOYS!!! We came back in parts of game 3 when necessary and took it. We are BETTER!!!

the Devils need to generate more traffic in front of the and get some shots off closer to the net. Clarkson and Elias had the best chances. They need to be more accurate.
Having PLL3 out there this hole series is a waste of a player. Pando could have helped the team a lot more. PLL3 has not much talent with the puck, nor have the coaches even used him in anyway by busting anyone up or intimidating a flyer!!

PLL3 could at least been told to go out there and drop the gloves. it would have been a more meaningful then some other penalty.

honestly
our power play was terrible, and our pk wasn’t any better. We wouldn’t have gone far in the playoffs without getting a more consistent power play with effective shots.
Plus our D is just outclassed, i mentioned mid season before the trade deadline, we needed a top 4 D man in addition to Martin coming back, preferably with a Right hand shot,
none of our D has a R handed shot. Well I would have liked Niedermayer back and he could have provided the leadership that has been severely lacking
its not a upsetting as last year cause i figured out they were gonna lose after one period of game 1 last year they were playing like they were gonna win.

In Atlanta, everything centered around him. When he came to NJ, all of a sudden he had to fit into an already-established concept for the first time in his NHL career. I hope (but don’t expect) that we’ll get to see what he could do if he has a full training camp and season with the Devs…

I can’t complain…3 cups since ‘95…Playoffs every year except once since then…a number of division titles. It’s supposed to be difficult..They have given a lot to this community and fan base; Did they create high expectations? Of course..That’s why it’s disappointing when they lose.

but its these 3 years that are driving everyone crazy in particular. Think about it…
08 rangers
09 eliminated in game 7 within 80 seconds of finish by giving up 2.
10 flyers
thats why its disappointing when they lose.

they are showing all 3 years now. (no pun intended.)
And those 3 teams had our number during the regular season those respective seasons. Does it suck? Yes. It does make it more disappointing losing to our 2 biggest rivals. Again, it’s not supposed to be easy, no matter how good the team is (SJ is a good example).
I feel people that have been watching this team and hockey in general) that you seriously need so many things working going into the playoffs. They didn’t have it this year. Next year will be a new season, a new team, a new start, and another contenting for a Cup.

You have to acknowledge the downs.
If we turn a blind eye (even worse management does) to what has been going on, we wont improve. No reason to bring up the leafs or the isles. We’re all devils fans here, and we deserved more. BUT, our time will come, soon hopefully.
I feel like it makes more sense for a fan to be disappointed after a series like this than to just say… “Egh, oh well. Nothing wrong with that.”

I just decided that the recap wont be a single word (e.g. “crap”)
I say this parallels 2008. Older fans will be reminded of 1999. Deja vu still feels awful.
Of course this site wont be done. Maybe slow down a bit. But I got some ideas for the unfortunate now-offseason.
I’m not going to make it a rule, but I feel that discussing what needs to change for 10-11 can wait a few days. Yes, I know what some/many of you know. But better arguments can be made when not handling the emotions of an awful end to a poorly played playoff series.
Expect an April in Review sometime during the weekend. Or Friday I haven’t decided. Tonight there will be a recap per usual.

I had the unofrutnate honor of attending this debacle. What an awful ending to a season…yet looking back now, could I honestly say that I’m that surprised by the result? I think I kind of kept telling myself from January on, “things are going to right itself eventually,” and kept on holding onto the hope that maybe, just maybe, they would return to the same form that brought them to the top of the league during the first portion of the season. I couldn’t have possibly been more wrong. Add to that the fact that we couldn’t have found a better team in the eastern conference that matchd up better against us, and the writing seems to have been on the wall for months now. I guess I was in denial.
