Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I literally stumbled upon this searching for more ways to show how awesome Zach Parise has been for the New Jersey Devils.

It's pretty sparse now. I wounder what could be added to make it the best official Zach Parise site online. Do you have any suggestions? Also, he needs work?

Is it official official? Seems very clinical… like he has nothing more to do with it than his name.

The bio reads like a resume of someone trying to fill out some space on an application (and could use some editing as it mentions that his father is JP Parise twice), and refers to himself in the third person (is that typical of celebrity bios?).

I'm guessing this is a joke...

Obviously he isn’t looking for work.

Well, if it isn’t him, whoever is behind it is asking for trouble, indicating it’s copyrighted to Zach himself. If it’s bogus, I hope Zach’s agent gets wind of it and sues the crap out of its creator.

This is real...

If this was fake, It would have been taken down already. The photos are “Courtesy of the New Jersey Devils” so someone from the Devils has knowledge of the site. This is great for Zach; he’s a superstar in the NHL. Why not take advantage? Get some endorsements, appearances, etc. It’s good for the Devils too by getting some outside(kinda?) marketing for their franchise player for years to come (if they of course resign him..which they will).

njdNYG'cuse looks correct

I was going to post a “just because the internet says so doesn’t make it true” response, but a little digging saved me some embarrassment.

Based on a Whois search, the site is owned by a Donna Parise from Faribault, MN, which is about an hour south of Minneapolis and also which is where the Devils Media Guide/yearbook says Zach spends his summers.

(Great site, btw.)

Donna is his mother, so it appears legit. The bio is just a copy/paste from his Wikipedia page, so she either wrote that too, or is lazy. Site must be brand-spanking new…

Fantastic searching.

OK. So how can this site be improved? What would the people want out of a Zach Parise site?

So I will actually answer the question...

I think he should have a place to show where fans can send stuff to him to possibly get signed…But it seems like the whole website is just so he can get hired for appearances..

bills don't pay themselves...

maybe he wants a fancy fancier car?

Fischer asks a good question – what really do we want from a player’s personal website? Can it be good for anything other than blatant personal marketing? Even Marty’s page, snazzy as it is, feels a little…self congratulatory.

I’d be MUCH more interested in a player’s blog than the promotional content on a website. Then again, Lou runs a tight ship – I can’t imagine any Devils player ever putting anything interesting into a blog post.

What I want on the website:

Is the blog section to actually look decent and be written by Zach himself. Dan Boyle has one up, and it’s always interesting to read what the player is thinking and what hes up to, etc.

I also want that ridiculous “looking for” section taken down. That’s just silly imo. If he’s really interested in participating in the community, that’s good, but having a “Looking for work” section is silly. Sounds like a bad craigs list ad.
