Harry Young, Adam Henrique, and Windsor Spitfires win Second Straight OHL Championship
The Windsor Spitfires followed up their 2009 championship campaign with another one in 2010. They swept the Barrie Colts tonight with a decisive 6-2 win. The Spitfires are now the first OHL team since 1991-92 (Greyhounds) to win consecutive championships. Congratulations to Windsor for the accomplishment.
The playoffs were quite good for the Devils prospects on Windsor. Defenseman Harry Young only put up 1 assist and picked up 24 PIM, but the defensive defenseman was the captain of the championship team. Excellent experience for him, certainly.
Adam Henrique should be receiving all kinds of praise. He finished 6th in OHL playoff scoring with 25 points, which is very good. He was fantastic at goal scoring - he put up 20 goals in 19 playoff games to finish tied with Jeff Skinner in OHL playoff scoring. Yes, 20 goals in 19 games - including a hat trick in Game 3 of the Finals. Henrique was awarded the Wayne Gretzky Award as the MVP of the OHL Playoffs. The WJCs, another OHL championship, and a playoff MVP award - 2009-10 has been superb for Henrique!
Windsor's season will continue in the Memorial Cup, hosted by Brandon - featuring Devils prospect Alexander Urbom. The tournament of CHL champions and the hosts will begin on May 14.
Henrique and Young join Mattias Tedenby as Devils prospects to have won championships with their teams in 2009-10. Congratulations to everyone involved.

He’ll be in training camp, but would most likely start 2010-11 in Lowell

Absolutely, but if he can carry over his ability on faceoffs – whenever he gets – here that would be great.

the shiz
in 4 years our depth at center is gona be beautiful. I think both will crack the big club in 2 seasons. 1 season in sweden, 1 season in lowell for Josefson. Then with a year or 2 experience in the NHL.. they’ll be legit NHL centers.
Zajac, Josefson, Henrique.. the shiz indeed.

Who needs Cormier when you got Henrique?
Is there a highlight clip of this game?

Considering the star power of the spitfires (Kassian, Hall, Fowler, Niemiz, Ryan Ellis) it’s great that Henrique had this post season. Just can’t wait till he gets into the Devils system

And that will be next fall, when he makes his AHL debut. I’ll tell you, I really enjoy watching young players develop. It’s a long road for them and its nice to see them get some reward along the way.
