Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

First action since the MacLean hire, the Devils trade prospect Matt Halischuk and a 2011 second round draft pick for Jason Arnott formally of Nashville. Arnott played for the Devils from 1997-98 to 2001-02 and is most known for this. More to come later.

High 40 Pts...

in only 63 games on the preds.

And we know he has chemistry with Elias. If by some miracle kovy signs too that will be great 1-2 punch of ZZPops and A-Line Part 2.

Mostly assists huh! He had 19 goals 27 assists. 41 percent of his points were goals. If you average his points into a full season you would have roughly 57 points or roughly 23 goals and 34 assists.

Something else big is coming i can sense it. I hope its Kovy signing as well. We can live without Martin I truly believe. Not saying its gonna happen just with or without Martin we don’t have the d that can shut down an aggresive team. I’d rather we load up on offense if we play in the other teams end are d doesn’t have to face as much pressure.

Also we need to get bigger and meaner i think that was why Arnott is back. That is also why i think Martin leaves he doesn’t play a gritty and tough game. He also doesn’t show a capacity to clear the front of the net. That was our real problem on d. Guys leaving the slot wide open for the likes of Briere and Hartnell to exploit. You look at the years we won it all we had size and toughness and grit up and down our lineup. I don’t think I need to list them all.

Arnott is big, but don’t expect him to be very mean. He’s suffered some head injuries recently and doesn’t hit or use his body like he used to.

I honestly dont think his presence raises our toughness quotient one bit, not any more anyway. The trade addresses our 2nd line center need, so that’s great. But I really think our Defensive end was the bigger concern than our offense. If the lines are kept somewhat static, I think we will score plenty enough in the regular season and Playoffs.
We still need to resign Martin, let Kovalchuk go, and sign another solid crease-clearing Defenseman in my opinion.

Arnott isn’t a fighter. To many injuries and he’s getting up in age. I feel I would rather have Kovalchuk then Martin. We have plenty have rookies like Fraser, Eckford, Corrente, Taormina in the minors itching to come up.

Piece by piece we are slowly turning into the 2000 Devils team, anyone up for the A-Line: The Sequel?
