Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Mauro Jorg - The New Jersey Devils 7th Round Pick in 2010 NHL Draft

The Devils selected Mauro Jorg, their first forward of the draft. He was 204th overall and the final pick of the 2010 Entry Draft for the Devils.The Devils finish with five picks (2 defensemen, 2 goalies, and 1 forward). Here are Chere's quick notes on Jorg.

Mauro Jorg  -  RW  -  6'0"  192 lbs . CSS Rank : 68th. (European Skaters).

He played in 44 games in the Swiss-A League for Lugano (1G-7A-8P) in 2009-2010. He placed 5th in this years top Swiss draft picks. He played in the World Juniors for Switzerland who finished 4th, and had steady stats the past few years

In the previous link;

He possesses nice hands, but something lacking in the drive to score goals. He tends to pass more instead of shooting.

That's not something terrible. He may be eventually become a great passer, The Devils needed to select a forward, and this is acceptable. The right wing has good size and the late round pick always has a chance to emerge from the Devils system. Let's hope this years picks aren't like the picks from 1999-2005.

Update: Lou had this to say about Conte and Jorg from Chere.

Mauro Jorg, a right winger whom the Devils selected in the seventh round (204th overall), is the team's first Swiss-born prospect, Lamoriello said.

"David Conte saw him in the world juniors," Lamoriello. "We had a lot of scouts see him."

If you've heard more about him or there's something I missed, please add it on. What do you think about this pick? How you feel about the draft overall for the Devils? Was it expected, conservative, surprising?

Lou left for New Jersey, but Gulitti was able to get some information: Lou spoke to some agents and is continuing talks with them. Next up should be signing free agents Paul Martin and David Clarkson.

Jorg had 3 goals and 1 assist in the WJC which isn’t to bad for being on an average swiss team.
