Brian Burke made it known that he is listening to trade offers for star defenseman Tomas Kaberle. The asking price is "either a first-round draft pick, or a young player capable of immediately stepping into the Maple Leafs' lineup." Kaberle does have a no-trade clause, but Toronto can trade him without restrictions between this year's draft later this month and August 15th. After August 15th, the team can ask him to name 10 teams that he will accept a trade to, and trade him from there. This information can be found here if you scroll down to the list of Toronto players with NTCs. Past rumors have stated that Kaberle would prefer to stay in the Eastern Conference.
Kaberle is 32 years old and has one year remaining on a contract with a cap hit of $4.25 million. In his career he has scored 482 pts (including 80 goals) in 820 regular season games, more than half of which have come on the power play. He is a career +27. In 77 playoff games, he has scored 28 pts (6 goals, 22 assists, +10), but has not been to the playoffs since 2004.
