David Clarkson re-signs for 3 years, $8 Million
Per Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, the deal fleshes out to $2 mil for the first 2 years, and $3 mil in the final year. The Cap hit of the Contract will be $2.66 million/year.
Update: Kypreos got the deal wrong: Per Darren Dreger, the deal is $2 mil for the first year, and $3 mil for the final two years.

Just saying....
$2 million for 2 years and $3 million for the third year would be $7 million total.
$2.66 million is more than I thought Clarkson would get, but I’m glad to see him in the fold. That’s one less thing to worry about.
Kypreos got the deal wrong. Not suprized though, Kypreos isn’t very smart.

Tad bit more than we were figuring, but excellent news nonetheless.
I’m happy with that deal. That will keep him a Devil until he’s 29 and by then we should know what his ceiling is and if he’s worth keeping for “life” with a 4 or 5 year deal or trading what value he has.
To "resign" is to voluntarily leave a position; retire. To "re-sign" is to sign again. When talking about free agents, please use the correct one.
One Priority Down...
One, far more valuable priority to go.
And Danis. He’s just a great guy, would love to be back and get a few more games in behind Marty. He’s not a long term replacement, and he’s cool with that. Give him $600k to stick around and not have to worry about it.
Very happy to have Clarkie back.
What a deal!
8 million? I just read the U.S. government spent 1 billion dollars rebuilding a road in Afghanistan. Just think of all the Clarkson’s you could buy with that kind of salary cap.
aha I told you!
Everyone said he’d be $1.5-2M per season, I told you guys he would demand and get more. $2.66M cap hit is a lot, but not out of his range, he’s worth it. Anyway I wasn’t kidding when I said he was worth 2.5M per…
Yankees in baseball, Giants in football and Devils in hockey. It's that simple. I have no off-season.
I think Clarkson has yet to realize his full potential. He was on pace to set personal bests in goals and points last season before he was sidelined by a broken leg. Not bad for an undrafted player whom many knocked as a career AHL-er early on in his career. Over all, I’m very happy Clarkson will be back this fall, though, like a few other posters on this thread, I’m slightly surprised it will be for more than $2.5 million for the next three years.
