You stay classy John Madden
23. John Madden: "I learned more about how to play hockey in the post-lockout era this season than I did in four years in New Jersey."
John don't forget that you did learn more about how to get caught in embarrassing pcitures with the players you are being paid to mentor.

Wow Madden is taking shots after shots of Devils management. Did this guy ever know he would’ve have won 2 cups if he hadn’t played for the Devils? Its not over pal, teams always blow 3-2 series leads. YOU should know. Cut the BS Madden, all of this won’t spark your team or get into the heads of the Devil team. Your lucky that you were given a chance in the NHL.

I'd love to know where Freidman got that quote
I’d also love to know whether Madden forgot about 07-08 so quickly.

the more time goes on that i think about this the more i hate it.
This guy would most likely never had an nhl career without the devils. HE WAS UNDRAFTED and the devils signed him. hes just so damn grateful chu know?
Yep, then he comes back with two remarks that get in my skin. But you can’t worry about that. He’s not a Devil anymore and he never will be.

Worried
We’ve lost Madden, Gomez and Gionta all to free agency.
If Parise flies the coup after next year, we’ll all have a different tone on quotes like this . . .
I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.
This quote makes no sense. Madden does for the Hawks exactly what he did for the Devils. Except he sees less ice time. So what has he learned, how to watch everyone win a cup for him?
I think it’s a jab at the Devils, suggesting that they haven’t adapted to the post-lockout NHL like other teams.

You mean being terrible for a while, stocking up on prime draft picks, signing players to huge deals to get close to the cap, and hope their “win-now” is successful?
Don’t get me wrong, Chicago was fantastic. And they got the job done. Full credit to them. But it ain’t happening next season

Agreed.
I honestly don’t know what he meant by it… just speculating. The Blackhawks are (were? should we be using past tense already?) defensively sound, but definitely offensively oriented (until they got a 1 goal lead in a Cup clinching game… WTH was that about?!), so I was interpreting it to mean he was being critical of a perceived lack of offensive focus by the Devils. Or something.
I admit to not watching much of the Finals, but I did watch last night and the only time I noticed Madden was when he lost a late defensive zone draw while Chicago clung to a one goal lead, and a bit later when he entered the offensive zone on a 3-on-2 and did his patented John Madden wrist shot into the crest of the goalie’s jersey.
