Was this all part of Lou's master plan?

Ok, so I understand it's a bit of a stretch but...Lou is capable of some pretty incrediable things. We all know that Lou has spoken out against these longer contracts in the past, saying that they will ruin the game. Also, it most likely wasn't his idea for this type of long contract for Kovy, he was probably pressured by Vanderbeek. Maybe, they went so above and beyond lengthy front loaded contracts of the past to FORCE the NHL to make a move on it. Do any of you think its possible that Lou assumed the NHL would have to step in on this contract since it was so over the top and put an end to the front loaded contracts he has spoken out against in the past.
Worse comes to worse (if this was Lou's thinking) Kovy has already publicly announced he is a "Devil for life" so they will work on a new contract and the league looks into similar contracts of the past. Maybe, this would have been the last over the top contract they accepted (obviously they didn't accept it, just perhaps this was Lou's thinking) and then they put an end to any future ones. It wouldn't surprise me if Lou used Kovy as an oppurtunity to not only land a big name goal scorer but as a little political bait to also get the league to move in a direction that he felt would be best. Any thoughts? Am I crazy? I might be...
