Top 10 NJ Devils goals of the 2009-10 Season

Something to look back on this past year and say which goals were vital parts in the game and some goals that were just fancy. I'll maybe do a post next week on Top 5 Devils fights of the year pending what you guys think.

Star-divide

Here are my top 10 goals of the year:

10- ">Zajac though the legs pass to Parise against the Flames.

9- ">Brodeur to Clarkson for breakaway. Parise like move.

8- ">Zubrus through the legs no look pass to Zajac to score against Auld.

7- ">Kovalchuk's first game as Devil, picks up an assist on Zubrus' goal.

6- ">Langenbrunner's hat trick goal.

6- ">Greene nailed in offensive zone, gets up, and scores against the Canes.

5- ">Bergfors 2nd of two goals against the Flyers. The only win the Devils had against the Flyers last season.

4- ">Halischuk's great shot to finish the Caps. The ping adds to the excitement.

3- ">Bergfors once again on my list. Kind of a duo between Parise's goal and Bergfors goal.

2- ">Clarkson curl and drag against the Ducks.

1- ">Parise spin-O-rama against the Blue Jackets.

Well thats my top 10 goals of the year for the Devils. Please leave your thoughts on them and add some of your favorites. Can't wait for what next year's Devils bring on offense next year. Thanks for reading and watching.

Good choices.. I would have put the Zubrus breakaway goal from the retro jersey game in there somewhere probably.

Ah man

I forgot about that one. I had it on the first post but then my computer screwed up and had to make 2nd one.

Mathew Barnaby to Lyle Odelein: "Cornelius, as we like to call him, gets under your skin. Planet of the Apes. Look at him. Seriously. He looks like Cornelious."

Odelein to Barnaby: "He should take a look at his wife. She's God-awful to look at."

Nice list. It’s always nice to take a look at highlights like that. I love Clarkson’s toe drag against the Ducks. Hopefully he stays healthy this year and continues to grow a bit offensively.

I think Bergfors first goal against Philly was more impressive

yeah but if you look carefully I think Bergie leaps and scores on that goal. Either one is top.

He's a RFA!

LOL. Can you imagine? Trade Langenbrunner, Zubrus, Salvador and sign Bergfors and Kovalchuk. lol. I AM JUST KIDDING. DON’T GET ON ME FOR THE NTC’S.

First of all, how did you import videos to your post?

Secondly, you missed two big ones – the aforementioned Zubrus retro night goal and how about the Parise OT goal in Montreal?! That one was absolutely spectacular. I forgot about the Clarkson from Brodeur…I was there, but clearly I forgot about that. Other than that, it’s a pretty solid list. The Devils didn’t have any jaw-dropping goals last year, but I have to believe they will with or withour Kovalchuk, once they’re allowed to open it up a little bit. Third periods of games might be a run to the races instead of collapsing nowadays…hopefully with the talent this team does have.

Yankees in baseball, Giants in football and Devils in hockey. It's that simple. I have no off-season.

I actually did it on accident. Go to the video, click “share”, copy the “EMB” and paste it on the line. And yes I missed the Zubrus goal and I tried to get Parise’s Montreal goal up but the video was slow and then my internet went down. Sorry for all of that. What do you guys think of doing a “Top 5 Fights?”

I don't remember too many good fights...

Just that three minute long Leblond fight and probably when Kovy attempted to fight Avery.

Top 3 maybe. Nah its not worth it.

while maybe not highlight reel worthy

I think the Rolston empty-netter for his 700th career point on an unselfish move by Kovalchuk is at least worthy of mention.

If I could, I would have a top 20 goal list. The Devils had a lot of highlight reel goals and monumental goals last season.

Well, hopefully Elias will pass MacLean on the goals list this year, breaking the franchise record for goals. I know the “perfect” moment would be for Elias to score in OT and break the OT record, too.

That will all happen. And lets not forget Marty can pick up his 600th win too.

Great list

Makes me miss Halischuk and Bergfors, though. Bergfors definitely fell off the map after having an amazing start to the season, but there was definitely potential there.

by njdss4 on Aug 30, 2010 2:41 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah but Halischuk only had one goal (I think) and that was the one. Bergfors was a little hard to lose at first. Hearing so much hype about this kid and the wait to get to the NHL. But we turned them into Kovalchuk and Arnott. Not bad.

Arnie and Kovy

are definitely better in the short term, but I’m wondering how good Bergfors will be 5 years from now.

He’ll be amazing offensive wise with the Thrashers. But then he’ll have trouble with his defense. But who knows. Defense might not be considered in the game once Bergie hits 30+ goals.

Nice list

only one I can remember off the top of my head was the goal by McAmmond where he lumbered through people in one of Kovy’s first games where we were down a few goals.

Yeah the pass from Zharkov and the game was 4-3.. That was a big momentum changed and once Zubie hit the Monster in the head, the game fell through. It drew some interest but Kovys first point and Zubrus scoring while diving was the one I put.
