How many of you believe that this is the year the Devils bring the cup back to New Jersey? Looking at almost everything in play this year in the nhl. I think the west got a little weaker, and the east is more even across the board again.
Devil's main arrivals(including non-full season players from last year): Kovalchuk, Volchenkov, Tallinder, Arnott, Hedberg,
Devil's main departures: Martin, Bergfors,
That gain/loss list of players this offseason is what puts the devils over the top. Add in to the equation that this is Parise's + Langenbruner's + Arnott's + Greene's contract year and that makes the devils, imo, the scariest team in the nhl. The (devils)best goalstopping defense/goalie tandem in the nhl just got noticably better(with shutdown d-men volchenkov and talinder + great backup hedberg), and the average/mediocre(devil's) offense just gained 1 40goal/80pts winger and 1 25goal/60pt center(when healthy). Thus creating a megashutdown defensive team with and an offense to be reckoned with that should be Top 4 in the east without question or better. That is a scary scary combo, and if everything gels the Devils should take the East with little problems.
Do you believe this is the year the Devil's should be favorites and bring the stanley cup back to New Jersey?
Because I think this is the year without question or second guess.
