Mike Mottau Signs with the Islanders/Okposo Injured
Good for Mottau and the islanders he lands a home and islanders get some experience on the blueline. On a bad note Okposo is out indefinitely.

There. Simple fix for Streit’s injury.
Also of note in that article, and of slightly more importance than the Mottau signing, is that Okposo is out indefinitely.

perhaps someone named Brian might be a potential replacement?

Streit hurt. Okposo hurt. Mottau signed. That’s a hellish trifecta of bad news.

Now that Mottau is not playing under such a defensive system, we can see how good or bad he really is. I always thought he was underrated and the reason he looked like he made a lot of mistakes because he was playing a lot of tough minutes, but I could be wrong.
He’s no Streit. I’m actually more interested to see what Martin’s stats look like in Pitt outside the system.
Wish MM the best though. Victim of the cap pressure and a good camp by young guys. I love rooting for the underdogs or perpetual non-performers, that’s why I started rooting for the Devs so long ago. The Isles have that spot for me now. You want to see them succeed as long as it isn’t against you.
I hated the way Mottau was used. Apparently, he’s an “economical” defenseman (what it means is superstars are paid millions and everyone else makes nothing), but Lemaire OVERUSED him. Mottau is a solid third-pairing player at best. He will fit well in NYI.
