Boulton over zharkov gives me a headache…
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
Bernier, Janssen and Mills over Zharkov is just killing me.
Bernier was bad in Florida and has done nothing special during the preseason camp. Looking forward to see Clarkson with the captaincy anytime soon.
More seriously, I’m stunned.

Bernier used to be somewhat decently offensive, be able to pot 30+ points on a third line in a season if healthy. But I don’t see that happening on the Devils.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
He scored 37 pts on the last 2 season. Yes, he missed a lot of games but to be an injury prone is not a compliment, neither.

Anyway, from TG Bernier won’t be signed

Pelley added to waiver list
I’m not going to lie to you. It felt good and I’m going to do whatever is in my power possible to stay there as long as I can. - Petr Sykora on playing on a line with Elias and Parise.
oh god !

Is that sarcasm? Pelley isn’t very good, still probably better than Brad Mills, but whatever.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
I don’t say Pelley or Zharkov are rocket Richard material, but everything is relative. So I’d have kept Pelley over Janssen, Mills or Boulton in a heartbeat.

LL on Rod Pelley per TG:
"Pelley, right now with the addition of (Eric) Boulton and (Cam) Janssen, is not penciled in to play at this time and where his contract is at and giving him an opportunity somewhere else if another team seems fit I think is in his best interest at this point. Rod can still play and I’ll be surprised if maybe he is not picked up certainly because of what he brings to a team."
Sounds like Pelley has played his last game as a Devil.
I guess what surprises me is it looks like they will go with Brad Mills as the extra forward or ‘healthy scratch’ forward or 23rd forward or whatever you want to call it. Is there that much difference between Mills and Pelley to risk having to eat Pelley’s contrat?
Hopefully he gets picked up and we save that money.
I guess you can make the same argument about Fraser and his one way contract nuit to me the 7th defenseman is a little more improtant then the 13th forward.
They’re not risking eating Pelley’s contract, although Lou is talking weird about it – he can be put on waivers, pass through, and then stay on the team. I also think Fraser could be sent elsewhere later in the year when injuries strike.
Driving Play - The Blog with Three First Lines
You have to learn Lou speak, or as I call it Lamories.
When LL says it’s in the players best interest to find an opputunity elsewhere what he really means is it is in the Devils best interest if the player gets cut. When he says that same player can bring something to a team what he really means is that he hopes some other team picks him up so he isn’t on the hook for the $500k.
See how it works?
Well that’s not up to Lou who will be picked up on waivers or not…. Zharkov could be the pick and Pelley sent down too.
We’ll see

Probably all 30 teams have put guys on waivers today.
Zharkov will pass through waivers like so many of the sub-par talent that is available on the wire right now.

Nothing to worry about. Tons of players are put on waivers each year at this time and they don’t get claimed. Its kinda like a gentleman’s agreement similar to RFA’s, you don’t poach my AHL guys and I don’t poach yours untill the season starts.

I wonder if there is anyone out there on the waiver wire that we could get?
I doubt it. But Lou should check it out just in case. It’s possible there is a guy better then Brad Mills available as an extra forward.
