Nick Palmieri Assigned to Albany Devils
Has 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 games with 35 shots with New Jersey. He was scratched in the game earlier this week in Florida. From Gulitti - here's his reaction. Days before that - he scored two goals against Boston while playing with Zach Parise and Adam Henrique.
Had a breakthrough rookie season last year mostly playing with Ilya Kovalchuk and Travis Zajac. This season he's had his up and downs. Playing on all four lines this season - he hasn't played up to his expectations fans or the coaches wanted. This is good for him to get some good ice time in the AHL and hopefully some confidence to help strengthen his game and overall play.

Finally napalm will get big minutes in Albany he was not ready for his NHL responsibility and now tedenby will have a solidified spot in the line up and I can see him starting to produce some more

It’s better for him to go back to Albany but his lack of production is not a good news for the team. Kovy will probably play RW until Travis comes back at minimum now, but this is not a bad news, that’s a waste of talent. Pretty sure Parise agrees

I don’t think Kovalchuk was going to play elsewhere until Zajac comes back regardless of whether Palmieri’s on the team or not. Personally, I’d swap the wings at this point just to try a different look.
Anyway – yes, this is needed for Palmieri. He’s been invisible in more games than he has contributed in; he really could use some prime time in Albany to get his groove back.
Note to Tedenby: step it up.

Well, I meant Kovy shouldn’t have to play RW if Palmieri was playing well. But Palmieri playing poorly doesn’t change anything indeed.

They shouldn’t change the wings. That will seriously affect the breakout and make playing in the offensive zone difficult.

Didn’t want to say this in the fanshot – But is this a possible prelude to getting Comeau off waivers?
Wouldn’t mind it at all.

I think the Devils would be pretty far down the list; but I’d be more excited for Comeau if he was a right wing.

I’d also be more excited if he wasn’t making $2.5 million this season.

Yeah I saw that too – Cap space isn’t a problem…but

Didn’t he play RW most of last season?

I’m learning that now through Twitter. Still – I wouldn’t pick him up for $1.25 million.

The fact he shoots right makes the question even more interesting. On the other hand, I agree, $1.25 million is perhaps a bit much for our budget situation.

I'm Indifferent aout his salary
With Palmieri gone – the Devils have just under $4 million in cap space. Subject Zajac and Josefon’s hit since they’re on the IR and Marty who was on retroactive for a little bit- they have some more space saved up.
Now whether ownership wants to divvy up the cash is a whole other question.

You and I are indifferent about his salary but it’s clear they’re in a tight situation this season. We’ll see if Lou can pull the trigger.

Funny, the comments at Light House Hockey calling for all the ex-Devils to be cut. Rolston, Pando and Mottau.
This news a bit odd to me. I would have thought Tedenby would be sent down. I’d actually rather have Palmieri on the 4th line then any of our current 4th line scrubs. But I guess they don’t want to play him just 5mins a game.
Well I really really hope Tedenby steps up. He has not been impressive at all to me.
I dont like the 4th liners much this year, but I dont think that Palmieri or Tedenby should be on the fourth line. Palms, I do believe is the one that should be sent down though. Palmieri has been invisible this year and while Tedenby is inconsistent he does have flashes of brilliance without ever really being a liability. Palms isnt really a liability either, but he hasnt shown the flashes of usefulness during games this season other than his two goal night.

sestito is going back when boulton returns.
Driving Play - The Blog with Three First Lines
Sestito is just here to give Mills some competition. Personally I think it’s pretty clear Mills has the better skillset.
I don’t know that it’s a question of skillset. I get the impression that our head coach likes Bradley Mills and favors him to some degree. That’s a pretty solid endorsement, given PDB ultimately gets to decide who is dressed and likely has his opinion consulted (although not necessarily obeyed) insofar as roster composition.
Palmieri was doing a whole lot of nothing, so I’m happy about this. Yeah he has a big frame and big body, but his skating is suspect and he doesn’t make up for it with much of a desire for the puck.
Now if only DeBoer would let go of this godforsaken Parise-Kovalchuk combo. They just don’t fit together and Kovalchuk being a righty shot does not make him a RWer. Yeah the Elias line has been great, but Elias’ line is going to be great no matter who he’s with and let’s let Zubrus clear some space for Kovalchuk.
Parise – Elias – Sykora
Kovalchuk – Henrique – Zubrus
I don’t think Elias and Sykora are going to suffer, exactly, by swapping out Zubrus for Parise and besides, RW is Sykora’s preferred side. And Kovalchuk gets to go back to LW, and Zubrus brings some defensive responsibility and grit to the line. Poor Zach has been doing it all by himself for his line, Zubrus is more able to carry the load alone.
