I've been thinking recently about all the past Devils numbers that have been retired throughout the past years and was wondering why not Sergei Brylin? He won all three cups with the Devils, 308 points in 765 NHL games and never played with another team (unlike Scott Neidermeyer), and was one of the most underrated and out of the spotlight players for the Devils for pretty much his whole career. Granted, I liked the fact of putting 27 in the rafters, as 4 and 3 were no brainers, as will number 30 and 26, and who knows, hopefully 9 and 17 in the distant future. But for now or maybe next season, I personally would love to see Brylin's 18 hanging in the rafters, as it was his own number, always gave 110% on the ice, and no one since has brought the same level of respect to the number for the Devils since. Although he is still playing in Russia, give this man the honor he deserves because he is the epitomy of what a New Jersey Devil is all about. What are all your thoughts and any other ideas for numbers to be retired by the Devils?
