Where Would Bryce Salvador Play if Healthy?
In a fanpost I wrote yesterday, I mentioned that I was not sure where Bryce would fit in on this team. I wrote this post to see what you guys think about it.
I guess the main question I have is if healthy, where would Bryce fit in on this team. For the most part the starting six defensmen right now are Henrik Tallinder, Mark Fayne, Colin White, Andy Greene, Anton Volchenkov, and Anssi Salmela. I think Bryce is an upgrade over Samela, particularly in the Devils end, but who would he be paired with? they tried him with Andy Greene in the preseason and it did not look great, but granted Bryce was injured so its hard to evaluate that. I dont think putting him with White works either since both arent the best passers. What do you guys think? If he were completely healthy and could play at his usual level, do you think Bryce makes this team better?

You’d have to be crazy to dress Salmela over Salvador

As long as he still remembers how to play hockey when he comes back next season…

Hypothetical question: If Bryce Salvador were healthy now, and had been for long enough to convince the Devils’ brass that he could play on a regular basis…. would Andy Greene still be a Devil now? Or perhaps would Lou have seen what the returns would have been on the trade market yesterday?
If Salvador looks like he’ll be ready for the start of next season, I think that lessens any potential urgency to retain Andy Greene at any price. Considering what the market gave defensemen last summer, I don’t know that it is the wisest choice for the Devils to pay that price when there are other cap issues at hand.
definitely a good question. if were healthy it wood make it easier to trade greene, and they could have packaged him with someone like clarkson to take off more cap space for future years. I do think that Andy is a better two way defender, but Bryce is really good in his own end. If they can get Andy for something like 3 years for 6 million id be fine with keeping both.

I think if Bryce had been healthy and playing, he’d be on another team right now.

I agree, and I think he’d be welcoming Arnott at the moment.
