What We Know About Adam Larsson-- NHL Ready?
This is a little late I know and I know most of us have already done our research on Larsson, but I'm curious to see if people think he is ready for NHL action now. I personally believe he's more than ready. He's young yes (18) but he's spent from 2009-2011 on the Swedish Elite team, he was nominated for Rookie of the Year in 2011, tied a single season record for most goals in a season under the age of 18. In 2010 he was selected as the best defencemen in the Worlds U18 Championships and lastly in his 2009-10 season he posted 4G 13A and 17pts, now being compared to Nicklas Lidstrom -- fair comparison? I think Larsson has a LONG way to go before he can start to be compared to Lindstrom-- 12 time NHL allstar, olympic gold medalist, 11 time nominated 7? time winner of the Norris Trophy. winner of the conn smyth and 4 time stanley cup winner. The guy is a legend. It's not to say Larsson won't develop into an elite player (no pun intended) which I truly believe he will, but to compare him to Lindstrom is ehhhhh....
Also I believe Lou said if he were to change anything now it would be by subtracting, hopefully a deal is on the horizon with Parise, but would signing Larsson to a contract this year be wise given our current cap situation? Or is Lou looking to trade maybe a clarkson, or zubs (brings too much value to the devils to get rid of in my opinion)?

My wish is that everyone will cease with the Larsson-Lidstrom stuff. They’re both two-way defencemen from Sweden, and it ends there. It’s lazy journalism. It’s not a fair comparison to drop on a young kid. Sure, he said he idolizes Lidstrom, but what Swedish D-man doesn’t? Every young center from western Canada idolizes Joe Sakic, whether or not their game resembles his. Larsson sounds more like a Suter or Seabrook to me.

Don't think the question is if he's ready
It’s a question of Larsson fitting within our Cap restraints.
He still might not be ready. He played in a man’s league but it’s nothing compared to the NHL. If he is ready then Lou will make space.
Every time a swedish defenseman enters the NHL
They compare him to Lidstrom, even if he’s a 240 lbs goon. Just like every time a russian defenseman enters the NHL, they compare him to Sergei Zubov, even if he has no offensive instincts whatsoever, just like every time a defenseman taller than 6’4 enters the NHL they compare him to Pronger and Chara even if he doesn’t shoot or hit people. Those comparisons don’t mean anything, and as a stars fan, who actually knows what Zubov was capable of in his time, they’re not only meaningless but offensive. Adam Larsson isn’t Nick Lidstrom, he’s Adam Larsson and nobody should measure him because of his nationality
