Realignment shouldn’t be drastic… just put the redwings in our conference and that’s it.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
Aren’t there enough good teams in this division?
Also, there’s a little Blackhawks-Red Wings rivalry that the goes back a good 400 years or so. Maybe a little less. I doubt the NHL would break that up. Ever.
The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed? - Il Duce
Personally I think Nashville makes the most sense. Just drop them in in the Southeast to replace Winnipeg. This seems to be the least drastic as it involves only moving 3 teams (Nashville,Minnesota, and of course Winnipeg)
Atlantic- NJ, NYI, NYR, PHI, PIT
Northeast-BOS, BUF, MTL, OTT, TOR
Southeast- CAR, FLA, NSH, TB, WSH
Central- CBJ, CHI, DET, MIN, STL
Northwest- CAL,COL, EDM, VAN, WPG
Pacific-ANA, DAL, LA, PHX, SJ

I can get behind this. Makes sense to me.

A compelling reason to move Columbus/Detroit and not Nashville has to do with time zones. Nashville is a CST/CDT club, whereas the Blue Jackets and the Red Wings both play within the Eastern Time Zone. Moving Nashville means a lot of Eastern Conference road games start at 8:00 or 8:30 local time, and a lot of Nashville’s road schedule would start at 6:00 or 6:30 local time. It doesn’t seem like that big a deal, but it can have a number of undesirable effects, including depressing fan viewership and enthusiasm when the games are moving around on one’s schedule.
You can also move Columbus into the Southeast reasonably easily and not have the geographical mess that comes with moving Detroit. If one looks at a map, Columbus is pretty much on the same line of latitude as Washington…. and while the Blue Jackets would likely prefer to share a division with Pittsburgh and Philadelphia for rivalry/proximity reasons, they wouldn’t look ridiculously out of place with the Capitals and the rest of the SE.
Good point. I forgot that Nashville is Central Time. Using google maps as a source between Philly, Pittsburgh, and Columbus, it actually appears that Philly is the furthest south of the 3.

So. Dallas would get screwed with this set up.
Dallas, St Louis and Nashville should all be together. Same time zone and closest to each other.

I don’t like the idea of Detroit being in our conference. Particularly due to the fact that they and Chicago have that rivalry, and they seem like a mainstay in the West.
Although Columbus is the other team in our time zone, I believe that Nashville should be the team moved. Their positioning is more Southward, and would be a perfect fit for the Southwest Division.
How many games will Marty play this season?
it is clear that his days of playing almost every game are coming to an end, and already a hammy problem. Does he get 60 games this year?
Any task BIG or small, Do it well or not at all
Detroit is not getting moved out of the West. There is no way the NHL allows only one original 6 team to remain in the Western Conference.
good point, & for myself, that would be weird.

While I agree that Detroit should stay in the West, they really want to come East, and there were whispers when Winnipeg moved that Detroit will be the team coming over to the East.

Don't rush the hammy
I pulled one at one point and it’s prudent to not play Marty until next week.

TG twitted the line up for tonight. Janssen and Boulton. Trying to rough up the Rags early?

You know how the NHL could’ve avoided the whole realignment problem?
By not relocating a team to the middle of nowhere.

Edmonton is in a worse location geographically speaking. I think NJDohio has a good idea.

And just keep them in Atlanta, where the ownership wasn’t committed and having the NHL and the Thrashers losing money…

Islanders New Captain
No, not John Tavares, Defenseman and first Swiss-born NHL Captain, Mark Streit.
Devils Captain by Oct. 8
Or so says Coach DeBoer, which is surprising to me, that there is a ‘deadline’ of sorts. Captain on Opening Night, who will it be?
Have to go with Parise
He gives 110% every shift, I also think Lou will sign him in January.
