That picture of Elias and Sykora screams 1999/2000. its easy to tell even without a date at the bottom.

They should just call the Jan 2. game the “recycled teams playing outside again classic” brought to you by Bridgestone

Devils-Red Wings next year?
It will probably just end up being the Penguins vs. their own AHL affiliate though.

thats alright im all for seeing Gaborik and Byrzgalov getting serious frostbite and not being able to play the rest of the season
I’m hoping the weather is 55-60º and rainy

I’m pretty excited to see how the final roster comes out. It really looks like Sykora has nailed out a spot for himself on the team. Larsson seems like he’s got a pretty good shot as well.
Status quo.
Yeah those two seem like they can be a primary force for the team.

Well with the recent trend, it seems like we could see a Devils-Rangers Winter Classic in a few years.
People have mentioned this previously and I think it’s pretty valid: The NHL likely won’t put these two in a Winter Classic together because they both belong to the same TV market. A pretty straightforward pattern has emerged that shows the NHL wants two large markets to draw on for these games. They don’t want overlap, they want ratings. I think the Red Wings-Devils matchup is probably more likely than Rags-Devils. I’m not holding my breath for either one, though.
Status quo.
As much as I hate to think about it, I feel like the league is thinking that the Devils won’t garner enough interest to put them in one. Obviously, I hope they do. Rangers – Devils would be absolutely perfect, but I would take anything.
