The Jets jerseys look good from the front, but the lettering is ugly.

My reaction to those jerseys is a hearty “meh.” They’re not awful, they just seem kind of boring.

Status quo.

THN’s analysis of the team sounded rather positive and fair, but then they had NJ finishing in the exact same spot in the standings as last year (11th in the East). Seemed kinda contradictory, but it doesn’t really matter because I know that prediction will wind up being wrong :P

Those Jets jerseys look good. They’re not flashy, and that’s good imo. Simple and symmetrical. Way better than the Thrashers jerseys.

Way better than the Thrashers jerseys.

This is true, but pretty much every Thrashers jersey in history was an absolute disaster. I think a 4-year-old could fingerpaint a better jersey.

Status quo.

RIP Alexander Vasyunov

Awful news that he was on the plane that crashed this morning in Russia.
Just makes me sick.

Very sad news. This offseason has had so much loss of life in the hockey world…

Not to nit pick since I know this is a relatively new feature, but shouldn’t Devils in the Details be posted later in the day than 5am? So that news which occurs that day can be listed?

by NJallDay on Sep 7, 2011 1:14 PM EDT reply actions

it was posted at 8, which is perfect gives me something to check on at work.

Sorry read the timezones wrong. But 8am is EST and still too early for any developments to happen for the day. Even the plane crash which happened very early in EST this morning wasn’t able to be included in the update. Unless 8am is at the later end of your work shift, an update posted later on in the afternoon which allows more news to take place would be even better.

It just doesn’t seem to make sense to call this the update for Sept 7. when none of the news happened today.

by NJallDay on Sep 7, 2011 1:29 PM EDT reply actions

Well it’s most of the news from the previous day.

and any new stories online can be posted in the comments section. If it isn’t posted till later in the day it leaves less time to get an open thread going. Morning is good

Ilya Kovalchuk is good at hockey

(a) People seem to enjoy having a new set of articles to browse through during their workday. The point isn’t to serve as the Devils’ comprehensive round-the-clock news feed.
(b) Any criticism is incredibly unfair considering these guys have day jobs at which they’re supposed to be, you know, doing the work that brings home the bacon.

by dr(d)evil on Sep 7, 2011 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions

The point is to round up all the news from the day before and have something for people to read all day. I suppose the date could be changed to the day before, but it is just easier to have it for the day it is posted and it makes the most sense.

by Goalvalchuk on Sep 7, 2011 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

The Puck Panel are tremendously ignorant of the fact that the Devils scored more goals under Jacques Lemaire, and that Lemaire’s departure doesn’t equate to more goals – a better shooting percentage and a faster team with maturing youngsters is going to lead to more goals.
