I’m in 209 and there’s a Carvel stand right outside. The line is always insanely long. If you want ice cream, plan on missing half a period.
na-na-na-na HEY! You SUCK!!
You got to go midway through the period or before the game
And can fans smart up and make the line towards the wall and not towards the concourse and block the flow?

Not news at all
NYP is like the Inquirer or other tabloid rag.

Don’t lump the National Enquirer into the tabloid mess that is the New York Post or some other stupid rag. You actually get legit news stories out of the Enquirer once in a while when the rest of the media puts blinders on or deliberately hides a case (e.g. John Edwards, mistresses, babies, and campaign finance fraud).
I haven’t heard anything about this from a reliable source. James Mirtle (Globe and Mail) is the only guy who’s reliable who’s tweeted about this. I haven’t heard anyone else talk about this.

More importantly, Gulitti has come right out and said there’s no actual news.
Basically, those convinced of a problem without actual hard evidence will take this and get worried. Those who want hard evidence won’t be.

Globe and Mail, Forbes, NY Post. I get how Gulitti doesn’t want to speculate. But just because of that, doesn’t mean this is unimportant. Whether we get the news now, in mid-February or June, there’s a problem.
Perhaps a post digging deeper into all of these related articles is worth it? I do not think it is a waste of time or succumbing to chicken little syndrome.. So you may not be worried now, but how many days do you delay facing it before acknowledging there is a problem? True, we’re all hoping for some sort of resolution, but the news does not seem like there will be an easy one.
I am not panicked, but worried. How we all witnessed things go down with Atlanta, I don’t want to be blindsided, that’s all.
I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.
What happened in Atlanta wont happen to us. Marty’s career lasted longer than the thrashers organization. They were also a team that never won anything and never did accomplished much. The Devils have a rich history and a solid fanbase, unlike atlanta.

This
We along with the Islanders are going to stay in their respective spots. Teams who have or had success during their histories are hardest to move/sweep under the rug in the media. In addition the problem with the Coyotes is more pressing than the Devils’ issues.

The best thing us fans can do is go to games
As many games as each fan can go to. For some, that is one game.
For others, try to hit 5 instead of 3, or 20 instead of 15.
The NHL relies heavily on gate receipt income.
It does not hurt to spend a few bucks on concessions at games too, enjoy a beer or an ice cream sundae, get a $25 hat at The Rock instead of $20 at the mall.
I fully understand that we’re not in good econimic times and many fans are broke, but we can all do things to save some money from our daily lifestyles and use it for a Devils ticket (cut out coffee or smoking, etc).
Tickets to some games are as cheap as $15.

Good call RBDF.
These last 2 years, I go to every game, but like you said, if people could go to a few more games than they usually do, it will go a long way.
We had a great run of crowds starting with Nieds night. If tomorrow can at least be decent, we should get on another good run. Lots of rivals and weekend games coming up.
I think I’ll buy a hat tomorrow. (And I’m already on a 1st name basis with the guys that put the names on the jerseys at the main Den.)

Dig deep into what? The source of all of this is whatever comes out of the NY Post and even that’s riddled with unnamed sources and vague enough verbiage such that it’s not clear if this problem is massive or not. Gulitti & Chere follow this team every day and has access to everyone on the team from rookies to top management. If they’re adamant that there’s no news, then I’m going to take them at their word over the Post’s or anyone else regurgitating the Post’s report. Simple as.
Also: What happened with Atlanta was an ownership group that literally did not care. Atlanta Spirit wanted the Hawks and had to take the Thrashers to make that happen. They didn’t put a lot of money into the Thrashers, they didn’t force a sea change at management positions despite a lack of results completely justifying it, and they just let the franchise play out the string to it’s very last moment. The deal with the arena alone guarantees the Devils remaining in Newark for a long time.

So Forbes isn’t a credible source?
Is it fair to ask if Chere & Gulitti are sometimes loyal soldiers who fear of damaging the team’s image with reports while the NY Post, Forbes and the Globe and Mail are not constrained by these feelings?

Forbes is a more respected publication, but NY Post relies on “unnamed sources” close to the alleged negotiations. It’s probably someone he knows from being a financial reporter. The source probably perceives a benefit from leaking the information to a reporter.
But it doesn’t mean the source is credible. It might just be some anonymous pot-stirrer.

Forbes essentially picked up what the Post had. Yeah, Forbes is a more respected name but it’s still garbage in, garbage out no matter who you are. Plus, the most truthful thing they put in there is that the Devils are re-financing which is not anything of significance unless something breaks down. At that point, there won’t be any rumors or sources – it’ll be crystal clear.
Is it fair to ask if Chere & Gulitti are sometimes loyal soldiers who fear of damaging the team’s image with reports while the NY Post, Forbes and the Globe and Mail are not constrained by these feelings?
Both Chere & Gulitti have criticized the team when they feel it’s warranted and they certainly aren’t mouthpieces of the larger organization. Moreover, they’re right there following the team as they go on with their day to day business – something the Post, Globe & Mail, and Forbes don’t have.
Agree to disagree, I’m going to take the word of someone’s who’s on the ground and has been covering the team top to bottom over someone who doesn’t, running with unnamed sources with vague wording.

As long as the arena lease is rock solid (pun intended) I could care less who owns the team.
In a way, it might even be better if his refinancing deal falls through and he has to sell. Signing away most if not all our TV revenue for the next decade never sounded like a great idea to me.
I see JVB at Loft47 before games sometimes, and he never seems like a guy about to lose the team. I also never say anything to him, because I know I will slip up and ask him about bankruptcy or something.
na-na-na-na HEY! You SUCK!!
I’ve met him. He’s a businessman. But I think one who cares about this state andy the team. What he did during the summer on the Jersey Tour was phenomenal. I really can’t think of many other owners who would do “town hall” like meetings like that.
I think he cares about NJ embracing the Devils for his bottom line, but also because he loves the state.
I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.
I’m late on this, but we know two things that are virtually certain:
A: The Devils had an $80 million debt payment on September 1 that they have not paid. The existence of this payment is confirmed.
B: Raymond Chambers had a deal on the table to sell his portion of the team for negative dollars – he would pay money to divest himself of his share of the team.
The Devils aren’t moving, but they sure sound like a team in financial distress. This article contains no new news and a silly contradiction, but the Devils better get their financial act together.
