Why is Winnipeg hectoring Kovalchuk?
It doesn't make much sense, does it?
There is a pretty high chance that without Kovy coming to Jersey, this team would still be in Atlanta. Not to say they weren't already nosediving towards oblivion, but that trade was the nail in the coffin.
It seems like they are doing it solely out of tradition, to keep the same attitude that the team in Atlanta had, but it seems pretty silly considering.
Thoughts?

Because he’s on the other team and fans usually do that to opposing players like in every other sport.
Devils in my heart! Devils in my mind! Devils in my eyes! Devils until I die!

It makes sense to boo an opposing team, or maybe even a player when he is having a bad night (like any time he lets up a bad goal the opposing fans chant “Marty”). But to boo a player every time he touches the puck, even if only for a split second, says something else entirely. It’s not like Devils boo Kane whenever the puck touches his stick, but we would do that to Avery, Lunqvist, or Gomez simply because we have bad blood with those players.
So again, what’s their hostility with Kovalchuk?

You should directly ask them at Arctic Ice Hockey. Personally I don’t care about them, they suck plain and simple.

they’re the rational ones though. I doubt Desjardins and co. are as hostile as the general consensus of Jets fans and boo kovy at every possible chance.

They did the same thing to Heatley
Apparently, any superstar that didn’t stick around with the sinking ship that was Atlanta is a traitor. Makes little sense with Kovalchuk since the Thrashers wanted to deal him to rebuild. I guess he should have requested to stay along with Heatley in anticipation that the franchise would move to Winnipeg years later.

Way to be a wise *. OBviously hes asking why Kovalchuk just because he played for Atlanta, it’s not random booing at him.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?

wtf is “hectoring?”
I’m not going to lie to you. It felt good and I’m going to do whatever is in my power possible to stay there as long as I can. - Petr Sykora on playing on a line with Elias and Parise.
So it’s one of them there fancy words the readers are usin’ these days, eh? Idda used Hecklin’ myself, everyone knows it and the definition fits far better than Hectorin’, but thankee fer the heads up.
