I can agree with sending Zalewski down, but I’m dissapointed. Wanted to wear my Clarkson U jersey to tomorrow night’s game again!

I can’t. Not with Cam Janssen, Ryan Carter and Andy Mills (who all have two-way contracts) still on the roster.

I agree with Tom here. If anyone has earned their bus ride to Albany its Boulton and Janssen and even Carter to an extent. I wish I could look up some advanced stats on our bottom six right now, but behindthenet.ca got blocked at work recently!

Zalewski was surprising, really. A way better player than Boulton or Janssen.

Strong effort, mediocre results. Reminded me of Tedenby but with much less natural talent and more size.

lol, don’t take me wrong but there’s no comparison possible between Zalew and Tedenby. So much difference !

Haha, right, I’m not trying to make that comparison either, but it’s a similar situation, where you have two guys playing (in very different roles) who are clearly making a very strong effort, but just not getting the results that PDB needs to get.

Plus, sending them down to Albany if they aren’t producing at this level will be good for them in the long run, it gives them a chance to get back tobeing in situations that they can excel in.

Wow all I got from that video on “days of yorr” is that the boston announcers are whiney babies.

I actually like those guys better then a lot of the other announcers around the league. I always get stuck with the other teams feed on Center Ice. The Boston guys are pretty decent usually.
really? I think Pitt and Boston have the worst announcers in the league.

I would agree with Pitt. By far the worst.
The Boston guys are a little bit homers. But I don’t mind that sometimes.
During the playoffs last year and the Bos v NJ games this year. I didn’t think they where bad. Thought the play by play guy was pretty on the ball actually.
Yeah, they probably weren’t too bad because they felt bad about the fact that the Bruins were absolutely destroying the Devils. Try watching them play a losing game.

Jack Edwards is a homer. He’s not on the level of Stiegerwald and Errey though.

Jack Edwards is Doc Emrick plus a fair amount of homer-ism.
Everything being equal, Jack Edwards is one of my favorite PBP guys — absolutely a Top 5 listen for me. Edwards/Brickley is perhaps my favorite booth “team” in the business.
….
Most announcers are homers to some degree — they’re simply playing to their audience most of the time. We’re spoiled in that regard because we had two decades of Doc Emrick, who is an unbiased professional (relatively speaking). We’ve grown accustomed to a PBP guy who doesn’t shill endlessly for the home team, and we judge other broadcast teams accordingly.
He’s not a typical homer, Nope, he’s a huge homer
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
Floridar announcers hands down, Goldstein and Lindsay are in the league of their own. I would punch them with delightfulness.

I don’t mind when team specific announcers are homers. National broadcast, now that’s a different story.

I have a limit to how much I can take. I absolutely cannot watch a Rangers game on MSG. And that has nothing to do with my hatred of the team. Their broadcasters are such ridiculous homers its not even funny. On the other hand I have no problem listening to many semi-homer broadcast teams such as our own and the Islanders.

I do a lot of eyerolls when listening to Rangers broadcasts, but for the most part…it doesnt bother me. The only broadcasts I can’t listen because they are so absure are the Yankees radio broadcasts. And I am a Yankees fan.

Same.
Additionally, Rosen’s nasally voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
I also have a theory that Sam Rosen is incontinent and so to cover his constant trips to the restroom will say, “Good play by X there to Y…” and then bolt to the urinal while Micheletti gushes about the play and/or player for ten minutes.

I kept wondering if that was some kind of Kids in the Hall reference, until I realized I had melded the names of Kevin McDonald and Scott Thompson.

Harrold? Really? Why not Corrente, or Urbom, or Gelinas, or Burlon, or anyone else on the Albany roster that isn’t him? As far as I am concerned, Harrold is merely Cory Murphy 1.3, a firmware update and a sleeker case doesn’t make it better! Why don’t we just track down Martin Skoula and Anssi Salmela while we are at it, cause it seems we don’t want anyone on the blue line that can actually play defense.

"I was in the moment, and the moment said smack you." - Bruce Willis
Harrold probably isn’t going to play. Corrente has been out of the lineup for ages with an injury. Gelinas and Burlon are probably not ready for the NHL. I don’t think Urbom has been very good in the NHL this year. Harrold is the type of guy that organizations keep around because he’s perfect to bring up to be a 7th defenseman.
Driving Play - The Blog with Three First Lines
Zalewski was a pretty solid player who actually moved the puck forward, he is exactly what the 4th line should be, was a lot like Zharkov but a little less explosive. How does Lou think Mills Jansenn or Boulton are better than Zalewski and Zharkov, I mean there is just no excuse for this horrible decision.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
Well, the rational obviously is he wants a 4th line with players that go out and hit people, crashes the net, and get into fights. In other words, a traditional 4th line. Zalewski and Tedenby will be better off in the AHL right now where they can be put in situations where they can produce on a regular basis and get lots of ice time. They aren’t going to develop and gain confidence while playing 5 – 10 minutes a game on the 4th line. This has always been the reason why the good young prospects have been kept in the minors while the guy that doesn’t have as much skill but plays with grit is kept in the NHL, they don’t want to mishandle the young guy that has a future.
While having both Boulton and Janssen is a mistake because it ties your hands late in close games, I understand and support the decision to keep one of them on the roster and in the line up on a regular basis. I think the bigger problem comes from the other guys who are expected to be on the 4th line. Carter and Mills need to either produce more or start hitting and fighting everything with a pulse, cause its hard to justify their ice time otherwise. I hope this will be less of an issue after the All-star break because hopefully we will have Zajac back along with Poni and Josefson, they should be able to put up some extra offense that is needed.

That’s not how the NHL works though. Deboer just recently said how part of the reason why Boston is so good is because their fourth line actually plays hockey, and yet he keeps these goons up and says he needs more scoring, it’s almost moronic
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
A great man once said, “There is more to hockey than scoring goals.” Or that’s what we think he said, it’s hard to tell what Bobby Holik says half the time. How can you say “that’s not how the NHL works” when the Bruins and Penguins were among the top of the league when it came to fights, yet they were also considered among the “premiere” teams in the league last year and this year until the injury bug decided to devour the Penguins. Also, you do realize that 2 spots on the third line, all 3 spots on the 4th line, and almost all of our defensemen are not producing right now. Replacing one guy isn’t going to fix those holes, however, bringing in Poni and getting Zajac and Josefson up and running will.

Seriously though, if we can get the top nine forwards to hit double digits in goals, why can’t I have my goon line?

"I was in the moment, and the moment said smack you." - Bruce Willis
Because the fourth line is supposed to give the other lines a break, a goon line makes you get scored on, a checking type youngster line can get some goals and defend better than the goon line will be able to.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
because scoring depth wins games with constancy. It’s one thing to play the tough guys, it’s another one when they’re also able to be responsible defensively, put the puck in the net… Well too be real hockey players.
Boulton and Janssen are goons and just that.

To be honest even a squirrel would be an upgrade over Janssen and Boulton.
Those 2 guys you brought out, they look like all-star material if you compare them to our 2 horsemen of the apocalypse.

Nothing to do with a “hate for Deboer” though. He’s a great coach and the boys are buying into his system, but I just can’t explain to myself those decisions, Argh, I’m over-frustrated.
