Nelson Peltz (Wendy's Owner) & The NY Post Conspiracy!
I love when Gulitti undoes his collar a bit in the comments section of Fire & Ice. Always priceless stuff that's way more intersting than his and most other devil's articles. Today's is a real gem.
Peltz is not getting the Devils. Word is he’s as disliked by the NHL as Balsillie.
By the way, Peltz is friends with Rupert Murdoch.
Do you think there’s any connection between that and these stories that keep coming from one paper.
Who would benefit from making lenders think the Devils’ financial situation is worse than it is?

The Devs for the Whale!?!?
From what I understand, Peltz wants an NHL team that would play in Connecticut.

So the Devils aren’t in financial trouble?
I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.
Not as much as some people would like to. When you’re in a big financial problem, you just never let increase your salary cap, even a dime. The Devils ownership has probably made the Foster and Ponikarovsky with a smile and a big F to the NYP.

I don’t know if I would say that. But the notion that Peltz is going to get involved is certainly weakened if Gulitti knows the BoG won’t accept him. Moreso considering the Devils and Newark have something like a 30-year lease on the Rock, so any movement is simply not going to happen anytime soon.

No this is the question I’ve had above all things. Financial problems aside, how costly (or legal) would it be for a new owner to pluck the Devils out of Newark? Is the actual lease online in public records?

Considering some other sports related news, it’s costly to leave a college conference. If the lease agreement even has an opt out clause (unlikely), then it would go to the legal side. Add up lawyer costs, fees, and the settled opt out amount; I would say it’s in the 10s of millions.
By the way – the lease agreement is with the Newark Housing Authority (you remember them when the Devils weren’t paying rent becuase the agreement called for other facilities and infrastructure to be built and they weren’t). So the cloudy relationship between these two wouldn’t help if the team ever wanted to move.

BREAKING (Reuters)
An anonymous source says an ownership group headed by the Hamburglar, which includes Colonel Sanders, the ghost of the Taco Bell Chihuahua, and Mayor McCheese, has begun trying to strong arm it’s way into the Devils ownership information. There are also rumors swirling the the Burger King is involved in the situation, though some are skeptical, citing the fact that he was presumed killed in a drive-by shooting last August. Jeff Vanderbeek could not be reached for comment.
Status quo.

Cmon
Peltz is friends with Murdoch and the paper is doing dirty work on Peltz because of it?
Methinks Murdoch has other items on his mind.
That’s Eklund-esque. I think that’s a TG3

No, that’s not the logic. The logic is that Peltz would want his name out there in this matter and has connections at the NY Post to get it done – I don’t think Peltz and Murdoch are rubbing their hands together to plot strategy on this matter, but it is curious how only one paper has the ‘info’ on this story.
I mean, Peltz somehow got his son to be drafted by the Senators, seems like he can get stuff done.
